Found this this morning and started laughing at how stupid some people can be.

Woman unwittingly rescues injured bobcat
MOBILE, Ala. - A woman who helped rescue an injured cat on the roadside got a surprise when a veterinarian told her it was a wild and potentially dangerous bobcat.

Liza Eldred, her teenage daughter and the girl's friend found the female bobcat Saturday on U.S. 98 in south Baldwin County, wrapped it in a sweatshirt and drove it to an animal clinic for treatment.

Veterinarian Andy Duke said the women were "extremely lucky" that the bobcat, which had a broken paw, did not panic and injure them.

They were in "a lot of danger," Duke said.

Eldred believes the bobcat didn't harm them because it sensed they were trying to help.

"It was not moving, making a sound," she said. "It hissed once, so we stopped once so my daughter's friend could move into the (far) back seat."

Duke's staff named the 11-pound bobcat Bobbi. He said it is undersized at 10 to 12 months old, and the animals typically grow to about 35 pounds.

Vetenarian Laura Serio, who treated the bobcast at the clinic Saturday, told the Press-Regiser on Monday that it was doing well.

"I think she will recover well in the wild," Serio said.

I've helped many cats get better.
Dr. Eric just puts a will placed shot right between their eyes. Very Happy

total agree with you there about the doc.

I've worked in a zoo and the bobcats can be a handful, but its been my experience that they are smart enough to recognize help when injured. They seem to sense it and respond fairly well. Not saying all the time.

the vets i worked with favored (or favoured for you other english speakers)
the bobcats over the others.

Tink,
I would not be too tough on the ladies, the cat was young and it was undersized at the same time. But one does wonder what the women thought the cat's breed was.

Reminds me of when, as a youngster, I picked up an injured squirrel, did not take long to examine him at all...... Very Happy I never knew a squirrel could bite you so many times before you could throw him down...

My main thing is what did they think the cat was, a tabby. My cat is big at 20 pounds and can get to 30 for her breed and is about 2 feet long not counting the tail and I still wouldn't think she was anything other than a house cat. But I think that a bobcat is a little more apparent on what it is. Also something found like that call animal control. Even an injured house cat can cause big time damage, again I have the proof on my arms from a pissed off cat.

Most people dont see bobcats down there, unless they are living back so far they have to pump sunshine in.

Maybe the ladies are high city debutants and just dont know.
Not all people do
I have to really look to tell if its a bobcat or a lynx. But I have my zoo background to work off of.
you would be surprised at how many people asked "what kind of cat is that?" when the sign is right there.

go fig.

Guess I was just raised to call people who know and don't handle large, anything over a smallish bird, without calling for help first. Always been told that injured animals can hurt a person a lot faster than a non-injured one. Guess its just me thinking that people should know more than they do.

My experience with injured wild animals dictates surprise that the bobcat would let anyone near it. I'd dare anyone to approach an injured lynx back in the area that I'm familiar with seeing them in

I have found a remedy for the evil tree rats...er, ah squirrels....

About 8 hrs in a slow cooker with a chicken base, some potato, carrot, and celery chunks, followed by a skeletal extraction, and a quick return to the slow cooker with the "magic" spices (garlic salt, fresh ground pepper, a bit of parsley, and a bay leaf). It usually serves to remove the evil, and renders them quite palatable....

and a touch of fennel or fennegreek and it will kick up all the spices a bit. dont forget to have it served with homemade rolls with garlic butter, mild salad with a home dressing. Dutch apple pie while still warm a scope of madagascar bean vanilla ice cream, or at least a peach cobbler with french vanilla.
sWith squirrel probably a sauvignon or a merlot from one of the fine vineyards in South Australia.

I got this recipe for muskrat, squirrel or beaver, and other such critters but I can't tell anyone what it is cuz all the seasonings come from the bush up north and I don't know any of their names in English. How much of each seasoning you use depends on which animal you're cooking.
