Its an oldy, but a goody.
FIREARMS REFRESHER COURSE
1. An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.
2. A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.
3. Colt: The original point and click interface.
4. Gun control is not about guns; it's about control.
5. If guns are outlawed, can we use swords? or axes
6. If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words.
7. "Free" men do not ask permission to bear arms.
8. If you don't know your rights you don't have any.
9. Those who trade liberty for security have neither.
10. The United States Constitution (c) 1791. All Rights reserved.
11. What part of "shall not be infringed" do you not understand?
12. The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore the others.
13. 64,999,987 firearms owners killed no one yesterday.
14. Guns only have two enemies: rust and politicians.
15. Know guns, know peace, know safety. No guns, no peace, no safety.
16. You don't shoot to kill; you shoot to stay alive.
17. 911 - government sponsored Dial-a-Prayer.
18. Assault is a behavior, not a device.
19. Criminals love gun control -- it makes their jobs safer.
20. If guns cause crime, then matches cause arson.
21. Only a government that is afraid of its citizens tries to control them.
22. You only have the rights you are willing to fight for.
23. Enforce the "gun control laws" we ALREADY have, don't make more.
24. When you remove the people's right to bear arms, you create slaves.
25. The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control.
26. "A government of the people, by the people, for the people..."
"Whatever enables us to go to war, secures our peace."
Thomas Jefferson (letter to James Monroe, 24 October 1823

interesting quote who were they going to war with????
raising one eyebrow.
I know this is changing the subject but being a female its in my DNA to do so
I am new to the gun realm and want to go on my first hunt this year after I get my 30 06. I have just bought a Walther P99 as a side arm.
Do I Really Have to Buy Camos???
they make my butt look big...lol.
seems to me its a grand marketing ploy to make everything camo
I mean really does the truck have to be camo too?
And isnt it a great safety issue in the woods?. I mean the one thing that really scares me about hunting is getting shot by some liquored up camo wearing country boy who cant see the orange.
and also seems if your any kind of a hunter why look like a bush?

Most prey (deer, elk, antalope, moose, ect) are color blind and only see living shades of black, grey and white. As long as you are wearing something like a plaid coat in red or orange that breaks up your body lines you will fit right in. I have always wondered just who we are hiding from when wearing camo...Us? And don't tell me you can't hunt turkey without camo, boys, as I have and quite successfully. I also don't use any of the various oders to cover my scent. I just bath with Ivory and stay down wind of my prey. I'm also a still hunter and tracker. So I move on occasion. You want to really hide? Get a "gulley suit"...
Good luck on your first hunt. Check with those that are going with you and see what they say...

I heard that animals usually are color blind from when I worked in the zoo.
Then IT IS just a marketing ploy that I wont be suckered into, spend my money on more arrows and bullets. woohoo.
I understand the breaking up of lines to conceal my form. I have plenty of clothes that well do just fine.
I use ivory also. dont wear perfume.
I know how to stay down wind.
And if l do go with someone, l can guarantee he wont be dressed like a bush either.
I was at a sportshow weekend before last, and atvs were camo, guns were, thought l would see a coat for the dogs. and sure enough there were some.
Now how stupid is that? Runs a high risk of hitting your dog if you're a sound shooter, or hitting truck, or loosing your gun that you swore you leaned against a tree.
stupid in my opinion
you know Vegetarian is an Indian word meaning lousy hunter.
Thank you sir for your reply
regards

Well I'm thinking he might be worried that his wanting war with Britian by this time may have lead to the British invading the US.

The acquisition of Canada this year, as far as the neighborhood of Quebec, will be a mere matter of marching, and will give us experience for the attack of Halifax the next, and the final expulsion of England from the American continent. |
He said that just before the War of 1812 started to the president James Madison. Which is sort of interesting considering that wasn't the first invasion of Canada by American Forces (They invaded in 1775 as well). You know thats part of the reason Canada became its own independant country from Britian, the constant real threat of the American goverment deciding to annex Canada.

Gidday keetoowah. Do you need camos??? Did your ancestors need them.....I think not, and the native American was one of the best hunters ever.
We had a good discussion some time back on camos here on HuntingNut......have a look at this link:
Is Camo Needed
Personally, I use them, but only because they are convenient, tougher than street clothes and I can get them at the "right price"

Turns out all they had to do was wait for Brian Mulroney to sell it to them, oh well, better the US than a lot of other places with big checkbooks.

Hey Keetoowha, The very first deer I got I was 15 and I had an old 50 pound Bear recurve bow that my Grandfather gave me. I also had on the red plaid wool coat that he gave me and a pair of bluejeans. I shot it less than 10 yards away and I was on the ground so, to answer your question, no you don't really need camo.
