I encountered sticker shock when buying a few boxes of bullets (Hornady, Sierra and Speer). Brass, lead and copper commodity prices have leveled off or dropped, so why the jump in prices? Probably because they can like the oil companies and gas prices. Have you good folks seen the same price hikes of reloading components? Take care...

hey joe , out here in ca. it's $ 18 for a box of 300 win mag rounds. $22 for a bbrick of 22lr's what a rip. good thing i bought 25brick 5yrs ago. dave

see i knew they were going to jump, but wasnt sure how bad, i went to the hobby shop the other day for primers, got 2/ small pistol and 2/ large rifle, came to like 8 bucks and change, so yeah it jumped but not much for primers..

Yes, the prices have really taken off. Fortunately I stocked up when the local gun shop acquired a lot of boxes of bullets. He was selling Speer, Sierra and Hornady bullets for $10.00 a box for .270 and larger and $5.00 a box for .223 bullets. All the best...

Last year we were selling Remington 338WM brass for 28 cents and now it is 50 cents. Primers and bullets have increased as well as powder prices.
The commodity market, however, has seen copper and lead prices soar three and fourfold as China and India try to obtain increased raw materials for their burgeoning economies. All components are being delivered with add on fuel surcharges as well and whether all of this is simply profiteering or realistic cost pass throughs may be less at issue than the fact that most components continue to be readily available.

The real suprise is that components are still as reasonably priced as they are.

The economic boon to Arizona is that copper production is again worthwhile and the stimulus to the economy affects all aspects of state economy.

You think you've got problems with prices. Unfortunately there aren't many manufacturers in the UK, so most are imported. These are some examples of prices we have to pay. All prices approx: -
Federal Primers large rifle, US$46/1000
Hodgdon powders from US$50 to $60 per 1lb tub
Nosler 70 gn Bal Tip .243, US$140/250
Winchester .22 Subsonic 40gr US$56/500
Even then, it's still a lot cheaper than buying factory ammo, Every time you pull the trigger,US$2.30 disappears!!!
I've had a look on some US web sites and we seem to pay at least double, sometime triple!

The prices of components in Australia is going up too.

Our prices are similar to those in Pomgolia (UK).

I buy Remington 80gn PSP bullets at $19.50AUD/hundred and Winchester 150gn PPFN 30.30 bullets at $32.60AUD/hundred. Cases, Remington or Winchester, average out $34AUD for 50.

Imported powders and bullets are very expensive here, although the ADI (hogdon) powders are priced very reasonably.....4KG of 2208 (Varget) cost me about $150AUD...about $17AUD per pound.

I can get a brick (500) Winchester Power Point .22 rimfires rounds for $25AUD, but that is the Club price without any profit...basically the same they pay for them....although they sell individual boxes at $3.80AUD per 50 rounds.

The gunshops are blaming the Chinese for our costs. They say that the Chinese are buying up all the brass, copper and lead they can and have pushed the price of these metals up to double what they were last year.

Aussies have always been big on abbreviating names or using nicknames. My last name is Parkinson and it often gets shortened to 'Parks', or 'Parky', or 'Parko'. A guy with red hair is nicknamed Blue or Bluey. My Dad's name is Charles and he gets Chas, Chuck, Charlie, Charl, or Chicka.
One of my brothers loved Peek Freans biscuits as a kid so he wore the nickname of Peeky...another of my brothers used to eat corn by the kilo as a kid so he got the nickname Cobby.

Yeah, I know, pretty weird but then again thats us aussies for ya.

We even have a couple of nicknames for you Yanks....but I won't go there right now.
