I just have to ask what makes you feel old. I've been working in a local high school for the last few months and am starting to feel every day of my 29 and then some.
Here's what made me feel old lately

Me: Okay we will be talking about the PMRC and Dee Sniders roll in the hearings.
Student: Miss Winters who's she
Me: HE'S the lead singer of Twisted Sister
Student 2: Oh ya them their on the oldies station

Me: Well I grew up listening to Guns'n'Roses
Student: Oh ya my parents listen to them Shocked

Talking about Smog checks in California
Student: Well Miss Winters what do you drive
Me: '89 Nissian pick-up
Student: wow that's older than I am and I'm a senior Mad

(That last one did it to me. My truck is older than my students) Embarassed

So what makes ya'll feel old.

Well lets see ... By the time you were born , I had just finished my first hitch in the Navy ..

Who is Dee Snider again ??

The school I graduated from had 2700 students in the top three grades and there were four people ( including the teacher ) in the computer club ..

I remember when the air was clean and sex was dirty ..

No unleaded gas .. Cost 6 bux or so to put 20 gallons in the gas tank ..

Slide Rules ..

Desktop calculators that were so slow , you cud add 2+2 on paper faster than the machine cud figger it ..

And hay you were young once, remember there is a point where young isn't so much.
It was the truck thing that got to me, the rest were just funny

lets yer 29, so i was 9, i was riding my first motorcycle, shooting squirrels with a pellet gun.. what makes me feel old is my kids, 17 and 12... saying to me hey dad whats an atari?? and how do you work this toaster over? and what is a vcr?

Old? Not me...GroovyJack's old though. When I started driving gas was 15 to 25 cents a gallon. And when they had a gas war 10 cents. Break out the 55 gallon barrels. My dad wasn't too pleased to come home from work to find his garage with 6 drums of gasoline in it...

well as I said in my dad's message which started this thing, it was things that was making me feel old. And some how he talked me into getting my own ID for this here site. So long way of saying Miss Winters unfortunatly is Me

As for the Atari comment I so remember those and the Commadors

Don't feel bad, most kids at my college seem to be 20 to 30 years old. Wink

I am a Teacher assistant at the college I go to, and I'm younger then most (if not all) of the students I'm helping. Laughing

OK, Dimitri ain't no genius, but he's as close as we got around here. Miss Winters is the owner of an '89 Nissan pickup that makes me think...hey let's go hunting you bring that truck. I still think CD's are new technology and I remember when people were paying 200 bucks for a pocket calculator that only did the basic functions of arithmetic. Now if you buy six pairs of socks, they give you a better one than that for free... Very Happy

In 1972 I bought 10 gallons of gas at a Union 76 and got a Sanyo CX2570 pocket calculator with case with the gas. Operates on photocells. It resided in my pickup for years. Then it resided in my desk at work for years. Now it resides at my loading bench. Yes...It still works.

well since I started this I'll chime back in.
half of my students can't read the clock in the classroom because it's not digital so they take out their cell phones to check the time, what happend to watches?
And I remember when I was tutoring out at the college half of my students were at leat 10 years older than me.
