Yes. You should experience better grouping with the Boss. Unless of course there is something seriously wrong with your gun. Keep in mind that it does not have to increase the noise level to the shooters ears. The ported Boss is what most folks are familiar with, but it is also available in a CV, conventional version, without the porting and without the big increase in muzzle blast.
Try it. I don't think you'll be disapppointed.

Correction on the above. It's called the Boss-CR. That's the one without the porting for muzzlebrake.

A fired cartridge sends vibrations down the barrel in very defined waves that intersect at specific distances (for example, every 8 inches)*. In theory, if the barrel's length coincides with the intersecting wave, accuracy can be increased. The Boss system was intended to increase or decrease this wave length by "tuning" the barrel, turning the Boss in or out.

Since its introduction, it hasn't proven to be a significant factor, however, some have noted marginal improvements in accuracy. As often, it has been less accurate than removing the Boss altogether, however, this has been with a limited sampling of four rifles over the past few years.

IMO, solid bedding and a floating barrel are conventional methods that are more effective and less costly.

*one of the fun experiments is to take a relatively low recoiling rifle and hang wire bent in a U shape of equal lengths over the barrel and shoot the rifle for five shots or so. The wires will disperse the length of the barrel and end up equal distance from one to another. This shows the intersecting wave length pattern. Higher recoil rifles can be used, but, something akin to the Lead Sled is needed to keep the wires from flying off under recoil. I use simple coat hanger gauge wire, cut to 12". Where the last wire ends is the ideal barrel length for accuracy with that barrel and that load, but, it may be unwise to cut the barrel at that point if shortening it more than an inch or so is indicated or if different loads and bullet weights are used. Longer sporting contour barrels are most benefitted and the shorter target weight barrels are less so. Evenso, the gained accuracy is academic for sporting purposes, although, I've shrunk groups as much as 1/3" with this proceedure, 5/100.

I worked with muzzle weights for several years, while shooting competition. What was found was that for a person shooting factory or fixed ammo, the system can, to some degree, adjust your gun for the loads you are using. However, for a reloader, when you change the componets or the factors (like velocity, bullet weight) you need to adjust the weight again. Most times changing the componets gives you more and better results than changing the muzzle weight. However, when you get "the load" the adjustments can be used to fine tune. Just do not expect to see changes that can be duplicated shot after shot. The changes are normally small enough so as to be difficult to measure outside of wind, humidity or temprature changes.

Where the Boss type system works best is in a firearm where the ammo you will be using can not be changed, like the 22 LR with a match gun. You can tweek the barrel harmonics to achieve the very best accuracy. Example of this is a muzzle weight on an Anchutz in which you are shooting Federal Gold Ultra Match. You can tune in the accuracy, past that which you can achieve with the bare bones gun. However, again, it is mostly confidence accuracy; that which allows you to feel that the very best that your gun can deliver has been achieved and a dropped point or target is totally your fault.

Gotta tell you, a friend of mine back in Illinois had one for his 30-06. He was trying to sight it in at 200 yards. He was using his hand loads & his groups were around 2-3 inches. We both agreed that was some good shooting. Then, scince was a boss equiped Browning, he decided to see if he could group better whith some adjustment to it. It got worse, and he never shot good with it again. I told hime try it with no boss...he did & got back to shooting good groups again. Shocked Confused
Keep it coming...
