HOW TO INSTALL A HOME SECURITY SYSTEM

1. Go to a second-hand store and buy a pair of men's used size 14-16 work boots.

2. Place them on your front porch, along with several empty beer cans, a copy of Guns & Ammo magazine and several NRA magazines.

3. Put a few giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazine.

4. Leave a note on your door that reads:
Hey Bubba, Big Jim, Duke and Slim, I went to the gun shop for more ammunition. Back in an hour. Don't mess with the pit bulls -- they attacked the mailman this morning and messed him up real bad. I don't think Killer took part in it but it was hard to tell from all the blood.

PS - I locked all four of 'em in the house. Better wait outside.

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Yep, I reckon that would work...but not here in Australia...we don't have anyone named Bubba or Duke....

Cheers, Vince

We don't really have any of them "Okies" or similar over here. I don't really know what the redneck types are really like in the US...only what I see and hear in jokes etc. Are there really rednecks like that over there? You know like the Hatfields and McCoys?

Nothing wrong with having a few 50BMG cases rollin' around on the floor....means you've been havin' some good old fashioned fun times. Very Happy

Vince,

Perhaps a name common to Australian's that live in the outback ?? Confused

I belive a good discription of a Redneck is:

-> Someone who likes country music and rock music.
-> Someone who drinks beer.
-> Someone who Hunts and fishs.
-> Someone who person that normally lives in the country/rual setting.
-> Someone who watches football and NASCAR.
-> Someone who is "Conservative" and votes Pro-Gun Pro-Hunting/Fishing Rights.
-> Someone who normally owns a pickup truck or a mussle car.
-> Wears a white teeshirt and jeans or a camoflauge outfit.
-> Someone who is "patriotic" towards their country.
-> If of Southern Orgin they may be flying the Confederate Battle Flag.

My list is alittle steriotypical so take it with a grain of salt. Smile

Vince according to Wikipedia similar sterotypes in Australia are "Bogan", "Chigger", "Westie", "Bevan" and "Booner" Smile

Well Dimitri except for the Confederate Battle Flag bit.....I'm a Redneck...woohoo !!! Laughing

Now, Bogan is really a name that isn't used, Chigger I've never heard of, Bevan...see Bogan, Booner I've never heard of. Now a Westie is what I would be classified as. It indicates someone who grew up in the Western suburbs of Sydney...which I did in a City called Blacktown so named in the early 1800's because of the proliferance of indigenous aborigines in the area. Today Westie is generally used as a derogatory term...someone who is as dumb as "barker eggs" - dog droppings....usually characterised by a checkered flannelette shirt either worn over the top of a t shirt and unbuttoned or tied by the sleeves around the waist.

Vince,

I didnt know if they were used or not thats just what wiki-pedia said are similar "stereotypes" being used in Australia. Smile

You know you can avoid the whole alarm/security system idea if you moved out into the country away from all the problems of the "city" Laughing

Some groups think that redneck's are racists as well. Only a racist would think that way.

I think that it is generally accepted that rednecks are pretty well anti everything except their likes...this includes being racist.

The whole thing about Rednecks being racist is a lie. You know the only people I ever heard say that were people who knew nothing about Rednecks or country music and just spread their ignorance about others. Sad

There was a African American kid at my school once who came to pick on me because I was lisening to country music and started saying I was "Racist" and a "Redneck" for lisening to country music wtf Anyways I just happend to have a black country singer on my CD so I tuned it into that song and threw my CD player at him for him to lisen. He was shocked and he didnt know what to say and I told him "There have been more famous African American country singers then White Rap singers, who is the racist now lisening to their music ?? Confused " .... He left without saying a word and from the look on his face he felt like a complete idiot, Cool Funny I never saw him agian after that incident. Laughing

The words racist and racism are not good words and as such I don't intend to use them here again. Mad

The way I figure it we are all basically the same....we all come into the world the same way and go out the same way. Some of the most magnificent people I have met here in Australia are full blood aboriginals. In fact, I wish I knew just half as much as them about nature and the bush. I'd be a much better, and successful, hunter.

It is a generalisation to call someone a redneck because of the music they listen too or the way they dress...or their likes and dislikes. We had a thread not that long ago on music and I reckon I saw the entire spread of music genres in there.

Anyway, this is the last word I will have on the above subjects mainly because I don't want to see anyone offended and also, I don't believe I am any better than any other man on this planet....we are all equal! Very Happy Very Happy

Last word on the subject Vince, come on now. I spent 21 years in the military defending our right to speech/opinions. I'm proud to be a Redneck, & I'm no racist, I hate everybody equally Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

As was pointed out, Redneck's are patriots. When our way of life is threatened, the Redneck's will be the first to the rescue. One of the reasons we moved to Arizona was because of the politics & way of life, it's Redneck heaven. And look at the diversification we have here in Arizona, we have people from all walks of life living here & less than the typical racism I've seen in the deep south or Northern parts of this country back East.

Vince, I don't know what Australia is all about politically, but, when communicating with this side of the world in this forum, say what you please & we'll respect your opinion. Get your feelings out, that's what makes this world go around...make yourself feel at home here Smile

Fair enough George old mate. However, with all of the BS in the world today, and a high percentage of it is racially driven I feel that rather than run the risk of alienating anybody I'll just keep my gollolilcka (lolly licka) shut. I mean, you never know what the other guy's religion or background is do ya. As for rednecks being rascist...well there are rascists in every walk of life. I have always found that some of the most genuine people I have had the pleasure of meeting come from the "redneck" ilk or the blue collar group.

Happy to speak my mind, so long as it doesn't offend anyone. Who knows.....the guy that I offend might be a 6'8" tall, 300lb biker that lives 1/2 a mile away. He might come round and want to pull my nose!! Very Happy Laughing Very Happy Laughing Very Happy Laughing
