Vince, don't you know that we, in Flanders (the Northern part of Belgium) are not allowed to go fishing nor hunting? We are not even allowed to go and feed out wild game. Hunting and fishing are "non-essential".
The greenies however are allowed to continue cutting the trees and do other work in their areas… fishing and hunting gear spread the virus like hell… so our minister seems to try convince us. Maybe it's the rifle… shooting ranges are also closed.
It's a hard time for young ones to be in love as you're only allowed to visit your love when she's ill and you bring necessary groceries…

Tumbs up for the person who discovered the word "covidiots"

on the other hand: look around and see how some people in very short terms become dictators without a fight nor back up army… they might feel happy, don't you think?

Mate, you summed it up in one word...GREENIES!!! The Govt is well infiltrated by ANTIs and Greenies who take every opportunity to take action against firearms owners and hunters (fishing is hunting in water).
The most important thing is that at least hairdressers are allowed to stay open...we can’t have terrible looking hairdos during this crisis.

Slim...I’m not 100% sure of the reason for the surge in requests for firearm approval purchases, but I think it may well be a mix of fear for personal safety (but it’s illegal to use a firearm to protect yourself!), possibly due to a drop in prices to move stock or the $750 stimulus payment most received from the Govt.

The fine for being out when there is no need is $1500 although the Police are loathe to use their powers...at this time...but times are changing fast.

Is that why one of your queen's subjects went to prison for using a baseball bat on an intruder?

Gun sales have been off the charts in the US. Here is an indication that goes along with that - ammo sales by state from an on-line supplier. My purchase should arrive today after a 10-day delay.

Firstly; we're citizens, not subjects, despite claims to the contrary.

There are numerous examples of people in the UK using weapons of one sort or another to defend themselves against attackers & not being charged, including three I can immediately recall where the assailant died from stab wounds & another where two of four intruders were shot (unfortunately they survived).

The relevant law:

Quote::
Section 76(5A) allows householders to use disproportionate force when defending themselves against intruders into the home. The provision came into force on 25 April 2013 and applies to cases where the alleged force was used after that date. The provision does not apply retrospectively.

Quote::
...that a person acting for a legitimate purpose may not be able to weigh to a nicety the exact measure of any necessary action;

...that evidence of a person's having only done what the person honestly and instinctively thought was necessary for a legitimate purpose constitutes strong evidence that only reasonable action was taken by that person for that purpose.

It’s been that way for quite some time mate. It annoys 11 sorts of sh1te out of me, but what can you do?

The Laws you state are actually quite interesting Mike...especially since our laws are based on those of Pomgolia. The unfortunate part about it is that at the end of the Court case it all comes down to the Magistrate or Judge. They can apply the letter of the Law, but it is the “reasonable person” view that will get in the way, especially when considering the proportionate level of force used...and we all know that members of the law fraternity, both Judiciary and bottom feeders, socialise with the kumbayar bleeding hearts. Bushy, this obviously does not apply to Larry’s other half.

We all know that to combat an assailant with a knife, a firearm is the best method, but the bleeding hearts would come out in droves arguing that “too much force was used”...and the ANTIs would have a field day using it against firearms owners. Realistically, it would be the same with anything used to protect yourself. First up you have to beat the “win at any cost” arguments of the defence bottom feeder; then you have to convince the Judge that what you did was fair and the only course of action open to you...good luck with that one.

Sometimes I think the best course of action is to use total guaranteed lethal force (dead scumbags don’t tell lies), cop it on the chin, and hope to reduce your jail time with strong mitigation.

In Australia, you have the right to run away or sit there and take the beatings.
Yeah in this country self defense is frown upon by the govt.

No mate, well not everyone...just a couple of mates who aren’t on The Nut.

I was very impressed with the open carry laws in Missouri...and more than a little bit jealous. Oh, and your Kimber is sweet, really nice and comfortable to hold and shoot...and your loads are excellent mate.

You guys Down-Under look to be fairing well.

People here in the US have had their fill of sheltering in place and are getting out (ignoring stay at home orders). We are still picking up cases at work for those having to go in. I've been telecommuting mostly. I've been getting out for some "recoil" therapy when I can.

English Mike, it looks like things are getting a bit tense in the UK. How are you fairing? In a prior post you mentioned "body bags". Gone on anymore hikes to clear the mind.

Hope all are doing well and are safe.

Yeah, it's kinda bad here.
The "semi lockdown" is what's bringing down the fatalities but there's dummies wasting everyone else's efforts by thinking it's cool to party because being young, they think they'll be OK & to Hell with older folk. Mad
I'm in a rural county (pop 490,000 in 2,600 sq miles) but we have double the national average number of cases & deaths.
Health service is coping fine & the main issue now is the elderly & infirm in care homes - something like 10,000 deaths in them on top of the 21,000 hospital deaths.
Been getting out every other day in the good weather, with longer hikes a couple of times a week (7-8 miles & 2,000' or thereabouts of ascent).
Weather's turned wet after 6 weeks of unseasonal dryness, so I'm sorting out the mountain of stuff in the spare bedroom (open the door, throw stuff in & close the door fast kinda mess...).
A couple of shots from Monday. In the looking west one, the hills in the distance are actually on the Isle of Man, 35 miles out into the Irish sea:
(photo's are taken about 1½ miles apart)

We’re not doing too bad here Slim. However, like Mike in Pomgolia said...the young think they are 12’ tall and bulletproof, so they don’t give damn about anybody else...they just keep on partying without any care or thought for the older folk in the community. The Police have managed to stop a lot of it out here, well made it unpalatable financially, by leveeing a fine of between $1K and $1.3K depending on where you are. In QLD they have issued upwards of $2,000,000 in fines so far. Up until a few weeks ago, the worst offenders have been backpackers who flooded Bondi Beach. They actually had to close all the beaches in Australia and they were patrolled by Police to stop the people congregating. A couple of the worst offenders so far have been English backpackers, with one female, apparently knowing she was infected, still caught a plane from Sydney to the Whitsunday Islands in QLD. To say she is in the shite is an understatement.

The “curve” has flattened significantly out here...we are nowhere near as bad as they have it in the UK and US, but we have to be careful not to reduce restrictions prematurely or too far just yet.
I liken it to parachuting...you jump from the plane and are falling at a million miles an hour and say “hell, too fast” and pull the chute. You slow right down and say “thank goodness... I take this chute off now?”
I can’t help but feel there is another round of infections on the horizon. They have documented cases in South Korea where people have been infected for a second time. Seems our bodies can’t/won’t produce antibodies for the virus.

I’m happy to bide my time and wait for things to come good, then I can get out and get some recoil therapy...with safety.

Those pics are magnificent Mike...you live in some beautiful country for sure mate. I’d love to be able to hike like that, but my legs will no longer allow me.

Texas lifted "shelter at home" order yesterday. If we need to go to a store, we are getting up early and hitting the store before any crowds can form. The HomeDepots and Lowes have been busier on the weekends than normal times. It will be interesting to see if we get secondary spikes. Life must go on, however. There are too many people out of week and unable to support themselves or their families.

We get out in the morning and evening for walks or rides. Yesterday morning, I traded a walk for some recoil therapy doing some 1000-yard testing which I will post shortly.
