One thing's certain matey; If you persevere with the recovery programme you've been given (or improvise where impractical), you WILL see a significant improvement on your pre op situation.
Keep yer chin up dude...

I just dodged that myself Vince. Now I am awaiting for an MRI for ACL and meniscus surgery this summer. Good Luck to you mate on the knee replacement. They say here that you are back at it in about 6 weeks and are walking with a walker within two weeks. All dependent upon how much you exercise the knee prior to surgery.

They had me out of bed and moving the day after surgery mate. I was walking with crutches about a week and a half after surgery. I’ve been walking, albeit carefully, without crutches for the past week. Biggest problem is the stiffness...not a lot of pain, mainly cramps type pains in the lower leg, although the way the Dr explained it to me, the end of the bone the metal insert sits on is soft around the edges after the operation and sort of “squashes” around the metal edges on exercise which causes some, if not most, of the pain. The bone...the same after a fracture...takes some weeks to harden and support the metal insert. After any sort of exercise my knee is so stiff it’s beyond a joke...but I have to persevere.
Apparently the exercises are designed to not only get things moving, but also to “stretch” out muscles that have “shortened” due to the abnormal gait with a bung knee prior to to the operation.
I’ve cut back on the pain meds (OxyCodone)...within reason...to allow my body to start returning to normal, well as normal as I can be, although I’ll be honest, there have been days when I just feel like rolling over and dying it’s been so debillitating and depressing.

I can tell you that life is well worth the pain, my friend.
Pain is just my reminder that I can still do things I enjoy. It does get in the way sometimes but less and less often - life is good!
