Had a visit to the Plastic Surgeon today to have some sun-damaged skin removed from my right cheek. He certainly "went to town" with his scalpel, but it had to be done.
Sooo, I suppose it's timely to remind each and everyone of us to be mindful of any strange lesions, scaly patches or unusual looking moles that appear on our skin. Get them checked out by a Doctor in case they are a "nasty"...Basal Cel Carcinoma (BCC) which are quite common or the first of the real "nasties", Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) which can matasisize. Heaven forbid that a mole is discovered that is a melanoma growing.
We have a saying here in Australia...SLIP, SLOP, SLAP - Slip, Slop, Slap! Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen and slap on a hat. It is good advice that is well worth following.

No laughin' here at the moment mate...everything is too tight. When the swelling goes down I'll be able to laugh though.

Some go hunting, other's buy their meat for a New Year's dinner...
on the other end of the world they simply cut a piece of themselves...
the question now: is there enough Vince left to conquer the joke-section of the Nuts?
and I couldn't believe what Gelandagan's wife did to him...
so it's not only dangerous spiders, snakes, fishes, animals, ... you have to watch out for down there...
Vince, you feel lucky she missed your throat by about 10 cm? Don't let her try a knife of Geland next year...
BTW, are your nipples left and right still at the same hight? Next time you better go to a vet, they use smaller stitches...

Wow... well glad they caught it now. Melanoma can be nasty stuff. My dad had to have some removed a few years back off his face. I have a spot I need to get looked at... good reminder.

We have the technology, we can rebuild him..........
Seems we are all now paying for our misspent youth.
Having had over 50 things removed over the years due to paranoia from loosing a father and uncle to melenoma, that paranoia saved my life.
Ive had 2 squamous cel carcinomas, one on the leg was an easy fix, just add another scar to the collection.
The second popped up at the base of my tongue just above my voice box.
That got found after I found a pea sized lump in the side of my neck.
Seems 1 pea sized lump in a lymph gland can equal a 30mm tumour in a very difficult place.
Thankfully chemo and radiation got rid of it or I would have ended up with a flip top head and half or less of a tongue.
But they did pull 11 teeth before radiation as it had the potential to cause issues if they required any work in the future as the radiation can badly effect blood flow to your jaw bone or even kill your jaw bone.
Brisbane currently has a uv index of 15 over summer and 7 to 10 in winter.
Slip lop slap indeed.
