I guess it depends on the woman. There have been a few times that my wife has told me she was wrong after thinking a conversation over. I have done the same thing a couple of times. We don't always agree but we discuss things politely and cordially. Sometimes it takes digesting a conversation before you can see it clearly.
Maybe that is one of the reasons we have not had any cross words in over 15 years.

I got you beat, Paul. I haven't had a cross word with my ex in almost 30 years.

It has been less than 5 years since my ex and I had cross words... she is a practicing addict and I have no filter between my brain and my mouth with her. She lives too close in a small town. I try to avoid her but sometimes it is just not possible. She will die some day from opiate abuse and then I won't have any more cross words with her.

Mine is because of distance. The farther the better.

I would agree Bushmaster. I just wanted to keep my kids close. My kids and I get along better than they do with their mother but even they avoid her as much as possible.
When a woman passes out in a plate of Thanksgiving dinner and then tells you that she has been clean and sober for months I just can't help what comes out of my mouth. There will be more separation when the good Lord puts an end to her cyclical life. I haven't decided whether I will go to the funeral or not. I guess it will depend on what my kids want. I am thankful for the two kids (now all grown up) that we shared in the making of. I figure I will be going to heaven when I die because I already lived through hell living with her while trying to get her to seek help. Even after a month of detox and the best counselors in the area I was told that she was not ready to stop her abuse. That's when I divorced her and she has gone through 2 other detox programs and lost a couple of jobs. One she was fired from for stealing patient meds. I once thought I knew her but later I found how abusive and dishonest an addict could be. Now I just accept that I don't know her at all and I just don't want to waste my time trying to separate the addict from the person.
WOW! I didn't mean to go on like that. I guess I might still have issues. I'll work on that.

Thanks Elvis! I am too happy with the current wife and life in general to do anything but enjoy it. I've got my silhouette shoots, my garden, and a dozen or so other projects that I am working on. Doing some home fixing before we paint too. I don't go too fast because my back is still getting stronger and it reminds me from time to time.
