Shot a coyote with a 77 SMK at 225 yards last month (24" barrel). No expansion with keyhole exit wounds on the offside hide.

Why is nobody mentioning the .222 Remington Magnum? Is it already that obsolete? I don't have one, but reading about the .222-class, what's wrong with a little bit more power than the .223 and not eating barrels so quickly as the 22-250 or the .222 Swift?
Sometimes history is difficult to understand...

people use it all the time mate....they just have it necked down to .204

AKA .204 ruger

my good hunting mate uses same case sized UP to .264-----6.5mm
the funny thing is he now using 80grn sierra hp pills for varmits/varmints so pretty much right back where it started.
he also has a .204/22 which really makes me scratch my head as it is in effect your .222 magnum

custom dies as no way to buy factory amunition mean its a bit of a dog, makes me laugh.

Only ribs if you call that bone on a coyote. OTM rarely expand. The yaw then break in the middle to fragment. I always recover the tip ("hollow point"). The only OTM that has expanded is the .277 115gr SMK.

Ran 100 yards, maybe 200 yards if you count the multiple spins/loop-d-loops he did.

so it probably wouldv'e done the same if you had hit it with even say a .30/06 fmj round in same place........
a good thing to have better rounds at your disposal for "next time".
