Has anyone gotten PB to run in LINUX?

I would like to know if anyone has gotte PB to run under LINUX, and if so... how they did it, ( please be specific!)
The computer in my shop is running LINUX Mint 11, and my home computer is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
PB runs great at home and I would like to have it run in my gunshop so I can show it to customers as well as access my load data when I load in the shop.

I havent even investigated running PointBlank on Linux, there just hasnt been enough interest in it to justify the time.

Maybe it would be worth investing in a cheap laptop Deacon. You could run PB on the laptop at work...and maybe use it for other things as well.

I used to run V1.8 under Debian using wine, but they updated the core in wine and it quit running point blank. I also have tried Parallels and Vmware and while they do run, performance slows down alot even thou I'm running a quad core cpu with 4gigs memory. So I went and bought a laptop, installed windows than installed Ubuntu along side it and split the hard drive in half for each os for the best of both worlds.

Version 1.8 works fine in Wine. I'm not sure which version OV1 had that broke PB for him, but I've used it across many versions of Wine with only a few issues. The current stable version, 1.4, runs v1.8 just fine.

That's the main reason I've stuck with PB 1.8. I use windows at home but run Linux at work. I keep PB on a thumbdrive and can pull it up wherever I go.

The Linux Mono libraries don't (yet) work with PB 2.0. So you still need to install the Windows .NET stuff under Wine to get it to work. And it never was 100% (for me). Granted, it's been a year or a bit more since I tried it. Maybe with Wine 1.4 (or an updated version of Mono) things have changed.

Reviving old post with newer information here. I'm running Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa. Although I can't run Point Blank directly, I run it through Virtual Box. If you're unfamiliar with this software, Virtual Box gives you the ability to run other operating systems inside your usual operating system. On my system, Virtual Box runs Windows, which in turn runs Point Blank or most any other of my favorite old Windows programs I don't want to do without. There is a considerable amount of setup involved, starting with installing Virtual Box, and then installing your operating system of choice within Virtual Box. For me, all the effort was worth it, as Windows runs flawlessly this way. Much more robust than running programs through Wine. Howdy everybody!.
I can confirm that I also run PB under Linux in both ways: using wine (a Windows emulator that can run windows software in Linux operative system) and VirtualBox (a virtual machine environment in which you need to install a windows system inside a virtual machine and then you can use it as it was a windows system in all ways).

There are many "brands" of Linux but most will run a virtual machine with any OS and run software that is made for that OS just as it would run on a standard machine running that OS.
I am running Ubuntu with a Linux base 4.4.0-1xx. I have not however felt a burning desire to run any windows software under Linux. (sorry DallanC). I have yet to find any good ballistics software for Linux. I have a copy of Point Blank on my wifes computer, which is the only Windows OS running out of 5 computers in the household. Point blank is as good as 3DOF software gets. I say that after having written two ballistics programs myself (for my own use)Back in the days when DOS was king. I am working on a 6DOF ballistics program in ANSI C that will run in a terminal on Linux but without the pretty interface of a GUI system. I am sticking with ANSI C so it can be easily ported to any OS that runs a C compiler. I will leave the GUI to someone else as my software is always released through the GNU-GPL process. There is no completion date as I work on it when I am in the mood and I am a hobbyist programmer.
The three ways to use PB 2.0 that you have been given are pretty much all inclusive and the best way, in my opinion is to run a virtual Windows machine in Linux.
