Not a fan of athletes doping but Sun Yang's case was a special one.
WADA banned trimetazidine, in late 2013, adding it to the January 1st 2014 list without testing it. Early 2014 when they finally got around to it, they declassified it and labelled it in the same category as insulin in their next report of January 1st 2015. And isn't currently banned with a WADA approved medical examination.
Even WADA cleared Sun back in 2014, and sided with the 3 month ban instead of the mandatory 2 year ban. Due to an extensive 6 years of him using it for medical purposes.
Verses Maria Sharapova, who was using Meldonium, a drug unapproved/banned in the United States (where she lives), so she had to fly or have the drug sent to her, as her American doctors would have never prescribed it.
