11 nicely balanced points, somewhere around 34" long by 30" wide and lovely shape all around.
stag was all rutted up and had been at it for awhile, skinny back and hips showed he been busy lad and I surely hope he passed on genes before we met.
down hill I went meeting mate just coming out of his sidecreek.anothe quiet night at camp in terupted only by helecoptor doing deer recovery in an area he shouldnt bee,saw him fly over with 3 carcasses on strop then just after climbing into bed I heard him coming down valley. up out of bed,out of tent, down into clear area just as he comes around corner into view 75-100 yards away 50 yards up..they could hardly have not seen my stark naked body out in open especially when I turned and gave hearty bum slapping brown eye to them...probably need councilling after seeing that lot LOL,
didnt sleep much that night as mind whirling with events of week and knowing big walk out ahead next day,big feeds to clean up tucker, camp broke and cleaned up the off we set for 7 1/2 km walk out to pick up spot meeting up with Les on the way (he managed a smaller doe chammy)
yip my old muscles knew about it on way out, last km was up hill and the grubber sure was a good walking stick as my cheeky younf mate called it. got to saddle and spent quiet night in tussocks waiting for chopper, rained 1/2hr before daylight so I got up and dressed, putting sleeping bag into pack to keep it dry and waited some more.
chopper was heard at just after 10;00 and man was it a welcome sight..hang on its not the wee white 500 but a plurry big red squirrel with side basket..woohoo travel in luxury
wonderfull flight out with clear skies and a fair bit of wind,as we in big mountain country wind was "interesting" pilot said "the heavier the better" to which I replied"see thats not the first time being fat is a good thing" greeted by laughter.
we flew on and I managed to spot an old forest service hut Ive stayed at twice previously way down below us.
as approaching airstrip my phone woke up as finally had reception, so I was able to Txt SWMBO and let her know we out safe and on way home.
we thanked pilot for great job and drove off.
thanks for taking time to read through this with me.
last photos are camp clearing from above and hill where stag was taken, two lone schrubs (dark spots above rock in centre)at base was shooting spot and knob 3/4 way up slope with wee finger of bush behind it, was stags pozzie...measued by eyetrometre and google eath at 250ish yards

Lovely country Elvis...but too many bloody monster yarmas for my old back and knees mate.

You should be an author Elvis...a great yarn describing an even better hunt mate. At least I didn't have to get the eye bleach out to get rid of any pics of you "laying a cable" with ya daks at half mast mate...I'm thankful for that, as I'm thankful you didn't include a pic of the end result...but the mental pic is persisting. Mad Laughing Razz

I'm really happy that you were able to get in a great hunt with your mates Elvis...I'm green with envy mate, but not even remotely perturbed that I wasn't walking those hills.

Rachel....Very nice name. Don't let these "old cobs" get to you.

Suz will be along with a switch just for you.

Why in the world would I want to take the switch to her? You boys got it all wrong we don't want a little girl all scratched up but boys just naturally come that way....and sometime look even better with more!

No!! I thought you might want to GIVE her a switch. But for our sake, have it your way. It's better for us.

Gee...I wonder where we get all those scratches?

Hold the ladder...Here I come.

Go Bushy go!
One beautiful woman with a switch is quite enough! Besides, us guys know the girls always stick together so there is only a need for one switch...

and it should be mine! Wink
