In a completely still atmosphere it would be a lot easier to keep a 40 grain projectile that starts out at 1200 -1250 fps on target out to 500 yards but changes in air temp, density, and winds... I am very impressed.

I don't see much problem with the 5 and 600 grain bullets from a 45-70 going accurately to 1000 yards but that little 40 grain bullet can be upset by a change in the level of sunlight - OK, I am exaggerating a little.
