this thread was buried waay back so thought I would bump it to see if any updates...
trying to get a week day off work to take my centrefires up to gunsmith to have suppressors fitted..then the fun begins as I will make up some "cat sneeze" loads for the x39 and try them out.

It's quite normal that you have to reduce the noise where it originates. Everybody does so with all kind of engines. Can you imagine all cars driving without silensers? But once guns and rifles come on the table, the use of silensers is often not allowed. And afterwards they close shooting ranches because they produce too much noise. Some things are hard to understand.

Maybe the world could have a look at the Scandinavian countries. I've been told that hunters have to use a silenser on their rifles to avoid their dogs becoming deaf. Well that's a very good reason.

Here we suffer from the same madness, even the silenser itself is forbiten. Unless it's for a car-engine, a lawnmotor or even an airrifle.

My home state is now allowing suppressors for hunting. I'm trying to decide if I want to jump through all the federal hoops to get one for .22 rim fires.

7.62x39mm
151grn cast HO HO hollow point
6 grns TB powder
standard primer
phiiit POP when they hit
fired one at a 40 yard target...near enough!!!(sorry Slimjim not very scientificated)
next 2 shots popped 2 rabbits
Im a happy chappy!!!!
will do some decent range work soon as I get time.

Mate with those projectiles, you can safely go up to 2000 fps with no problem.
It wont blow up above 900 fps as claimed by the guy who cast it.

My H&G #38 cast boolits on the other hand WOULD blow up above 1450 fps Smile

from my 1 in 8 twist barrel.
