Wow, I clicked on one of the HuntingNut ad banners with Remington's scope of the future that is here today. Did you folks see this? I didn't see a price - if you have to asked, you probably don't want to know. Wow!!!

I maybe.. maybe would like one for curiosity factor, but I would definitely hang my head in shame if I have to use one for hunting.
I agree with Vince, might as well go to the butcher and buy your meat if you are that desperate.

It looks like it will make the rifle too top heavy to use (1). It also is a video system so the image one sees is synthetic. I've worked a lot over the years with creating synthetic vision for pilot to fly with. Seeing a projected image from a display is never as good as what you see with your naked eye (2). I was surprised to see the activation button is not remote causing you to take one of your hands off the rifle to activate its pointing system. I can't keep my rifle steady when I'm moving either hand around (3). These are 3 aspects I think would be detractors in using this scope system in the field. Did anyone see the cost?

somehow I missed that.

rifles sighted in and ready to go with 300 rounds of ammo. They advertise that you can take it out of the case and hit anything with your 1st shot out to 500 yards (moving). Wow, not if they cleaned the barrel and shipped it without a fouling shot.

Wow, they said its carried by Cabela's! That's on the way home from the airport. I may just stop and check one of these out to see if my detractors were correct.

I'll stick with the old way, with the shooter in control!! Found some prices and while cheaper than "tracking point" whom Remington teamed up with to make a cheaper version available to hunters.
Knock your socks off at the price around $5,575.00 and here's the link.

I'm with you Pete...$5575 even for a scope and rifle package is waaaay out of my reach, and certainly nothing I could justify.
Slim makes a good point as well...it isn't an "eyeball through glass", but a digital image. That image would want to be mickey mouse every time for me to trust it completely, and with my experience with auto focusing lens (which I imagine it would need to have when "looking" over different distances) I have even less trust of such a system.

and just imagine what happens when the country who makes the $5 circuit board that controls it all gets the pip with your country because it hasnt paid the interest on its latest loan so they remotely shut down all the units they have sold....
$5K nah I couldnt justify even buying a blaser rifle for that price!!!

Elvis that reminds me of my Dad who bought a tankless water heater. Newest thing on the market, life time warranty, they're now out of business and he's out of hot water. Plumbed the house for it and would have to put lots of effort and money into more plumbing to put it back to a regular water heater.
Yeah that scope looks like an older video camera, kinda top heavy and kinda huge to be luggin around. Wonder how it holds up to abuse.

Well, at least the Remington version doesn't control the firing mechanism like the military version does. When you get the two aim points to line up in the scope you have to pull the trigger. You can still miss by pulling the shot or not following through.
I think I will just come up with a laser that you can mount a scope to - that way you don't have to deal with ballistics - both the sight and laser follow line of sight so you can always hit where the crosshairs are when you push the button.
Let's see, it will take about a million watts pulsed at 4000Hz firing for .05 seconds. You might need a wheelbarrow to carry the generator and electronics package.... probably not anymore practical than the $5500 gun and rifle set.
