400kg wringing wet (all 6 of them) and they push it in that fast!
That ground is not suitable for building on.
Elvis is right!

Often in some places the ground is all you have..
Coming from Jakarta, which is a mud plains, we simply put one piling on top of another until we hit solid ground or until the pile simply would not go down anymore.
Given enough piling, the system would work good enough for up to 2 storey houses.

I was a field engineer building a 3 storeys hospital there in 1990's, the ground is as soft as the one in the video, so we make "Chicken Foot Foundation" www.jakarta.go.id/eng/...detail/197 ..
Mate, almost a quarter of a century and the building is still there.. not that I expect it to be otherwise Razz

The ground is not suitable to build buildings based on the conventional method.
But with some ingenuity, human can conquer most problems.

like a floating foundation???
we watched the house over the road get built in timaru. the bored down 17mtrs in places then poured concrete down holes and poured a slab on top to build on.

Yes it is a type of floating foundation, I was told that its theory based on how a palm tree can grow on soft sandy soil with only a root ball,
and named as how chicken can walk on muddy area without sinking..

Well I'm impressed, ya gotta come up with somethin to make things work. Like up in Alaska when they started building roads on the frozen tundra and then it unfroze so they sunk into it. Then they laid logs down and made a log hiway like a mat to drive on. When it would sink down they just laid more logs on top. Imagine how many trees it took to do that. Eventually it stabilized and they were able to pave it. People still do that in swampy areas, lay the logs and cover with gravel or sand. The logs spread the weight of the vehicle over a wide area and it's a sort of floating foundation.

I made
that up

Suz

And Suz has never seen the roads in Alaska...You can be driving along one of their back country hi-ways thinking all is good and making time at around 60 to 70 MPH and all of a sudden the hi-way just disappears from under you. Yup...Them logs sure do work.

known as corderoying( like the fabric) they found some under a building in Dunedin and got all excited about it!!!just a bunch of sticks and logs....four wheel drivers do it all the time to get unstuck or over a boggy bit before getting stuck.
