Military and Conservative websites exploded in rage today when the news surfaced that the United States Marines marching in last months Inaugural Parade had their weapons disabled prior to the start of the event.

Don't know if that was blown out of proportion or not, but I believe parade troops are using guns that won't fire anyway. The other part of the article is a little weird, (about the Leon Pennetta visit), disarming the troops for his visit. Talk about paranoid. I guess they know where they stand (even with the troops) maybe it was too hot to wear flak jackets.

The polititions don't want the "defenders"of the country armed when the politicos are close-they only want their own personal "drone"gov bodyguards to have guns to protect them.Does that mean that they know that "they"(politicos) are the true enemies of America?

During my time in the forces and many public parades,quite a few involving the self important politicians from many countries,the SLR rifles we carried only ever had the slide half of the breech block and slide assembley fitted.
This was unless you were the guard of honor at a funeral and going to do a 21 gun salute.
There is also a host of rules regarding when the military can go fully armed in public on the Australian mainland.
So I dont see a great deal unusual about parading with not functional weapons.

As to having the troops remove their weapons on an active war zone, I'm surprised they weren't also charged with not carrying their weapon at ALL times as per standing orders. Shows a total lack of trust, or the reality of a war zone the politicians had created by their own orders.
