muzzle control
positive identification
only aim at what you want to shoot
wear blaze orange
dont hunt the silly season in popular areas
get into the thick crappy stuff /out further than other want to be
hunt with people who follow your rules or dont come again
the list could go on....

Hey, it was an idea I thought was good for the common man!

It could help a lot for men who feel themselves at home anywhere and they give such devices to their wives...

Thanks Bushy.

Every year it's more BS, "safety's", products... distracting and placing less fault on the opperator.

The only safety on the gun is the person holding it. An ND is an ND. No such thing as an "accidental discahrge". Period. Guns will not go off until someone put's hand's on it. The safety's on my guns rarely, if ever, get used. They are either hot and pointed safely or empty and in the case- that's it, no middle ground. If I have to safe a firearm it's only to unload it. Safety's are stupid and should be removed- they promote false security, if you are going to safe a firearm, unload it! And no, the thumb actuated slide lock on the 1911 is not the same thing, it's primary function it to keep the slide in battery, "locked" and the hammer from falling secondarily while locked- "cocked"...the actual "safety" in on the grip. Matter of fact, ya cant clear it w/ the slide locked (or thumb safety on, as some wrongly put it), you actually have to defeat all the safety's to unload the 1911. Safety's aint safe!

You would be hard pressed to get within several hundred yards of me when hunting unnoticed. I typically get up on a ridge and glass areas between me and 2-3 miles away when looking for deer / elk. I use a tripod and a 15x45x zoom spotting scope. Once found i try to determine their direction, then figure a plan of attack to get a head of them.

Its big open country here. I would like to get some of those Garmin Radio's with the GPS built in that shows the locations other radios on the same frequency. Wont do anything for other hunters, but would be useful in my own party when hunting, snowmobiling, ice fishing or whatever and we get seperated.

Don't get me wrong, I don't even hunt during our roar because its so unsafe, but the NZ bush is very dense and it's the buck fever type hunters that are the danger, it's just another product that might help save lives, I personally won't get one because I don't sees the need, I walk round in Blaze orange and Im not scared to give a shout out if I think it's human.

As I said in an earlier post, the 4 rules which Bushy posted. The bottom line is safety begins between the ears, then common sense.

The Rules are there cuz Sense aint Common!

Side note- if I pop someone hutning, or otherwise? I go to jail! No if's and's or butt's. I got extra incentive!

A little late to join the topic, but my 2 cents are this.

Even if blaze orange or these warning buzzers were mandatory for hunters, what about NON-hunters in the area? Bush walkers not using the path, bird watchers etc.

If we fall into the trap of looking for blaze orange or waiting for the buzzer to go off to know there's people there, then we are MORE likely to make mistakes.

As an example, there's a couple of towns somewhere in Europe where they removed ALL of the street signs. No more stop, give way, no left turn signs etc. Their accident rates went down.
Turns out, if you approach the intersection not knowing who else is approaching it, you slow down and give way to everything.

Nice idea. And I'm all for anything that helps. But I really think education is the first step needed.
