Right now my mind is on bow hunting, I have my stand set and ready to hunt in the morning on the Military base I work at. Only 95 of us in about 25,000 acres. I hope I can sleep tonight.

so, you prefer stands over blinds, fur over feathers, herds over flocks, venison over foul?
Best wishes for you morning hunt.

Duck season is closed for this week (don't ask, stupid regulations). So I am taking advantage of this Deployed Soldiers hunt. This morning was a total bust! I hit the ground and packed my blind in until I found where a bunch of heavily used trails came together. One I got set up and hunted for a while I decided to have a smoke before the evening hunt. Wouldn't you know it...... BUSTED! The only smoke I had in the field all day and there was a deer within 50 yards behind me. I played with her for about 15 minutes until she just went away. But I think I could still hear her further out off and on. Have you ever had that feeling you should look behind you? I did and there were four legs attached to a nice big bodied deer standing in the pines. It was 20 yards and looking directly into the back window of my blind. I wasn't watching that way because there is no way to get an arrow in there. It was 75* today and supposed to be 45* tomorrow but windy. Hopefully I will see mine early before the wind kicks up.

classic. I often would spook a deer after having a coffin nail. I think it was more a case of the stop to have it let things settle so I heard the spook after I moved again.
