Yep, that's me on the right. Take away the gear and I look like a worn out old farmer...
My reproduction 1853 Enfield shot pretty good when new (1981) but I haven't fired any real rounds through it in years. With a target load consisting of a 315 grain SWC Minie ball over 50 grains of Goex FFg powder it wasn't any effort to hit drink bottles at 75 yards while shooting standing. I'll have to take the old girl out to the range sometime and see how she does after running several thousand blanks through the barrel.
Reenacting has been great fun for me. I love seeing the spectators' faces when they ask questions and get to handle a musket for the first time. Especially the kids! My job has kept me away from it for most of the last ten years but I'm making an effort to participate in the 150th anniversary events.

I would love to visit the civil war battlefields but every time I get out east our schedule is just to busy. One of these trips everything will go right and we will have a little time.

you might just have to go out and get a deer during the special season with that gun. now that would be a great story to tell.
