|
So for some time now my daughter has been diagnosed with ADHD and Bipolar and been medicated for it. We have been concerned because she had appeared to be spacing out in the middle of sentences and she has a really bad time with wetting the bed. Mind you she is 10 years old, almost 11 and she wets the bed almost every night.
One evening while we were having dinner she began telling us that she had been seeing shadows and mostly in at night, my wife being a former epileptic discovered that what she was describing were aura's which tend to occure just before siezures. We then took her to the docter and explained everything. He refered her to a specialist.
The specialist did an EEG to see if she was infact having siezures. The test came up inconclusive. So he wanted to do a second test but have her stop one of her medications a full day in advance in order to determine if that was the cause.
Her appointment was yesterday for the second EEG, my wife got a call from the doc today stating that the medication was not the issue. However, he discovered that there was a problem with her brain in the frontal lobe and she has to have a MRI. So I am not sure when that is going to be but hopefully it is turns out to be something minor.

keep looking into it bud you will get to the root cause of it if you dig hard enough, medication/midical thinking has come a huge way in the last few years.
best of luck .

Thanks all. Right now our biggest concern is that in children with frontal lobe epilepsy statistically 30% of those that have it have a tumor. We also found out that all along her behavioral issues may have been caused by whatever is going on with her brain. The frontal lobe is what controls your behavior. The other thought that my wife found out and brought up to me was that when she was in labor with our daughter she was pushing with no results and it was determined that her pelvic bone was tilted. In the process our daughter was in distress so they did a c section. When she was brought out she had a bruise on her forehead. At the time we thought nothing of it but if she has lack of oxygen to her brain or her head was hit against my wifes pelvic bone to hard thats what could also have caused it. All in all we are doing our best to stay positive. We are going to go camping this weekend to relax.

I hope they find a solution quickly.
As Vince said, there is much modern medicine doesn't know, but the advancements in the brain department have been exponential the last few years. Even if they are not sure today, doesn't mean they will not know tomorrow, or the day after. Always stay positive.
