I told to cook some Hen Fruit on something left in the sun and send me some pics to prove it.

This is a pie tin on a BBQ side stand thingy... it got over 200*f outside and on the inside it FRIED the egg!

Actually my local pub is my breakfast fast food joint. Tall glass of tomato juice, tobasco, salt, pepper and vodka...BREAKFAST IS SERVED....

We've also been going through a very hot summer and a prolonged drought. The daytime temperatures, on the ranch, have been about 102 to 108 degrees every day. This doesn't sound very hot to people in Arizona, but if you're that hot and have 70 to 90 percent humidity, it hurts. If you're working in the sun, the air temperature is around 120 degrees, and hotter that hell on a metal surface (i.e. the egg photo). The last appreciable rainfall that we had on my ranch was July 2007, exactly 2 years ago. The news said that the South Texas drought is the driest 2 years in recorded history. It's getting almost impossible to find hay for the cattle, and if you do, the price is close to $100 per bale for 6X6 round bales, if you can find them. Most brush country ranches are either selling their entire herds or burning prickly pear cactus for cattle feed. There's absolutely no grazing in the fields or the wooded areas. I noticed that my wife's donkeys are chewing the bark off of mesquite trees. I've decided to keep my cows, even if it means trucking in hay from out of state. We would love to have had the rainfall that some of you guys have been complaining about.

Been reading about them droughts down there....no rain in 2 years? That's pretty huge.

Heat and humidity is a killer for sure, itd cripple me.

The long term forecast predicts the weather patterns to change from El Nina to the El Nino, a wet weather cycle, in the fall....with a wetter than normal pattern. Of course if it's wetter than normal lately, that could mean a full inch of rain!

We have powder dry soil down to about 5 or 6 feet now.

Our normal annual rainfall averages between 17 and 21 inches a year. Over the last 2 years, we've received about 3 inches total, in 1/10th to 1/4 inch increments.

I'd like a large huricane to hit Bafin Bay on the King Ranch (I know they wouldn't mind ....and it would miss Corpus Christi to the south and Brownsville to the north) and swing slightly north to hit me. The last time that happened, I got 23 inches of rain in three days. In South Texas, ranchers love huricanes.

Man, that's nuts, we've had more rain than you out here in So. Calif.

That kind of heat and humidity is hell!!!! We have some high humidity in Minnesota but the place I was in Iraq WAS hell we had the humidity coming from the Tigris and the desert heat. You would just pour sweat thinking of doing something. The ais conditioner would bring the temp in the tent down to a nice 90 to 100 degrees. I have a couple of pictures of me by the thermometer at 130 to 140 degrees, we would have cooked eggs on the hummvee's but we couldn't find anything but powdered eggs. I would love to send some rain to you Cary but all we get lately is heavy thunderstorms with down pours which just runs off. But better then nothing.
