Just kind of stumbled on your site after hearing about Mr. Sibley on another forum(a hard loss for all who knew of him) and followed the link in a web-browser and liked what I saw so I thought I would sign up and join the fray! A little background on me I have been doing outdoor stuff, mostly hunting and reloading stuff from when I was about 5 or so I am 34 now. I have not been out in the field for a few years now as the wife got a bad sickness and it keeps me home when I should be out chasing critters! But that is why I am a reloader too, any more my dad just hands me the empties and says, "load those." Well I suppose that will have to suffice for a intro for now. Arron

If you are a hunting nut you are in the right place. We make a fare support group when needed too.

When you have the time, jump right in the conversations and make yourself at home. Share your knowledge and we will do the same.

p.s. Please add a little more information to your profile so that we will know what part of the world you are in and what you do for a living, etc. etc.

Aaron,

Welcome aboard! Hope you enjoy the site. It's a great place.

Just to let you know, you're not alone. There are others how's wives have medical problems that have kept them out of the field. I wish you both all the best and will pray for you both as well. Hang in there. Perhaps someone can spell you so you can get out for awhile. You need to take some time for yourself once in awhile so you will be better able to take care of her.

Bob

Arron, glad you could join us. I have a similar story regarding my wife's health. Keeps me from hunting as much as I'd like. This is a good place to get some advice on almost any subject. Sooo...
Keep it coming...

TNX for the nice welcome folks!

I know what everyone means on taking some time out from the hectic stuff but I am IT as the saying goes. About three and a half years ago the wife was diagnosed with Wegener's Granulomatosis; most are probably going to say, HUH? Well it is an auto-immune disease where her body attacks itself and there is not much they can do with it but they do have a treatment they follow for it, chemo and steroids, and anti-biotics regularly as the steriods knock down the immune system. She is on her second set of chemo now and she is hoping the hair stays this time, HA HA. If she makes it past eight years then she will have a good chance at making it into her 50 or 60's. This also took away any chance for us to have kids naturally so we are in the process of adopting our bi-racial foster son whom we brought home from the hospital at two days old, he turned two the end of September. The whole process has been a big pain in the backside. The racial part has been easy to tell the truth, I thought some folks on my side would go crazy but they surprised me and didn't. But on her side the opposite is true mainly because he is not ours by birth. But I could give a flying fat rat's backside what ANYONE thinks! I kind of get a little nasty on that subject as I was adopted also, so I know both sides of it now. He has been outstanding for us to take care of as he was born METH exposed, amazes me sometimes how much chemicals can take over lives! But he was cranky for only a few days and settled right down. We heard terrible stories about other kids and it will just rip you apart and make you want hunt down some of these folks and rip them apart. Anyway that is why I take at least 20 minutes a day down stairs working on the reloading bench putting together ammunition(usually with the dehydrator or fan going with meat drying; the smell is indiscribeable!!) and then I get to make it go boom and hopefully hit something when I do or at least get to watch when it happens, I like that too! SO that kind of gives ya' a good idea of what I am about. IF you are interested in something you think I might know then ask away! If I cannot give you a good answer then I shall proceede with the BS flowing in order to hopefully confuse you enough that it really didn't matter what the original thing was about. HA HA. I look forward to getting to know the folks here! Arron

Welcome Aaron, great to have you aboard mate.

Steady up on the BS thing mate....us aussies have the market cornered on that one Very Happy Very Happy Laughing Laughing

Sorry to hear the missus is crook mate, but as a couple of the others have said...hang in there, be there when she needs you, and when she doesn't, get out there and enjoy some relaxation.

There is a wealth of knowledge amongst the members of the Forum so if you have a problem or a query just ask....someone will have an answer for you. I also look forward to your input and the sharing of your knowledge.

Finally, as Popgun said....we make a fairly decent sort of a support group. We probably can't do it in person, but we are here for you mate if you need words of encouragement or moral support.

Cheers, Vince

Welcome to the site. If you have browzed this site you will notice we discuss every thing from ammunition to farriers. Guns to horses. Hunting rabbits to bear. Hunting deer to moose with a little elk thrown in. Even fishing, both salt and freshwater.

Sit back and enjoy. (Beware of 1895ss though).

Mike

Hey Arron,

Pretty new here myself, so welcome, but I have to say I've been involved in hunting off and on since I was 6 years old (over 40 years!) and there is some great expertise and advice here and it's offered in the same friendly manner you'd get at the local hardware store, too! I guess you know by now that Vince's mouse finger has a stutter and you know...(beware of Bushmaster) Laughing

Aaron, you will note that there are a few guys here who like to take the "mickey" outa a good lookin' rooster like me. You will no doubt be on the receiving end on the odd occasion as well. Consider yourself extremely lucky if this happens....it usually means that you are well respected and well thought of....well thats what I like to think.

I won't ramble on here cause I don't want to get "beat up" for going off topic, so sit awhile, enjoy your stay and post often. Oh yeah, and watch out for them bloody Marlin shooters......they can be bothersome buggers sometimes Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Hiding

Cheers, Vince

OK, now you all can beat me up for going waaay off topic. Vince, if it's the Scotch that's the problem, it looks like I'll have to pay a visit to Oz...bring you some good Scotch Very Happy

Gidday Tracks....mate, I'm a Scotch drinker from way back. I learnt to appreciate good Scotch when I was in Scotland....spent a couple of weeks with the Drums and Pipes of the Gordon Highlanders. In my bar at the moment I have my cheap and nasty mixing scotch...Black Douglas, a very different scotch from Thailand called Mekong and my sipping Scotch....12 year old Glenfiddich Caoran Reserve (Peat Ember). Keeping my eye open for a bottle of St Dominie. Had some when I was in Aberdeen at the Gordon Highlanders HQ and Museum....like mother's milk it was...so smooth.

Have been known to have a drop of nice Scotch on the odd occasion. Very Happy Very Happy

Cheers, Vince

Weel, if it be Scots wiskey ye' be talkin' then I believe I'll count meself in for a wee dram of tha'!

Personally I like sipping mine by a really nice fire or in a social setting mixed with a Coca-Cola. Real smooth like! And as far as Clan Gordon goes I can find ancestors among them. Also into the Clan Fergusson, by way of Annie Laurie. Got a 12 year old bottle of the Glen waiting for the boy's adoption party, have had it put back from when I got it for Christmas in 2001 for when the first yougun' comes into the family. Should be anytime now that I get to open it, just waiting on the case worker to call and say this is the date it is happening.

An' as for tha' rest a' ye lot, drink weel for when the dawn comes all shall be no mor'! For we ha' done our best to see it thru' ta' tha' end.
