I've been a little too trusting in the past !!!

A so called "friend" whom I would of never thought of doing such a dastardly deed handed me a pair of 12ga shells to asked my opinion of a new skeet load he worked up with some new powder.
Pulled the trigger on the first barrel, opened the action and took the second one out and handed it back to him and thanked him for being the Censored of the day !!!
Turned out to be "rainbow" powder !!! (little bit of green dot, little bit red dot, little bit blue dot)

These days I will only shoot re-loads that my dad or I loaded and they are only shot in our guns !!!

If I shoot a gun that is not mine I'll shoot factory or their re-loads.

Hell no! Unless I loaded it or it came from over a counter in a factory carton it aint going in my gun!

Got some ammo once, in factory boxes. Looked like it was sized once, kinda smelled like alox or something. Pulled a bullet. 82+gr of something came out. Shocked Hmm...brass was cherry, so were the pills. Powder went in the trash and I got primed full sized brass and 40, 180gr pills to use as foulers. Not bad for what I paid for them! Good thing I looked first. None of my manuals have a START load anywhere near that for 300m. Wouldda been a BIIIIG baddaboom. Laughing

Know some that buy ammo from anyone and everyone- one has TONS of this junk. Reloads and more, mixed brass and blullets in buckets and bags. He's in for a rude suprise one of these days. Don't shoot with him, never will either. Screw that!

If I trusted the guy, and he used my recipe, AND I stood over him watching him reload, then maybe.

I would reload for others IF they gave me a recipe that was worked up in that rifle or I did a bunch to minimum factory specs.

Nope. No No!

Watched a friend fire his .45acp. Slide was slamming hard and there was more noise than should be. I examined his cases and couldn't find firing pin strikes. Only a shiny spot where the dimple should be.

I asked him what his load was. He said he was using Clay's. I asked him which one. He said it didn't matter. Clay's was Clay's. He didn't know there are 3 types and they are not interchangeable. Shocked

So, no. I won't shoot someone else's reloads.

Holy crap, HayCreek!! Not only would I not want to use his reloads. I much prefer to be a few miles from him when HE uses them.

He's had more than one lucky escape. Had a rifle come apart on him, once.
Nary a scratch. Seems to run on luck. scared

I stay well back. He's too casual about the consequences to make me comfortable.

If you are a good friend of his, I would take all his reloading stuff away from him and give him good book on reloading for X-mas. If he can't take the time to learn the different powders (clays especially) then he makes it dangerous for anyone around him when shooting or hunting.

The published books from the manufacturers are from time and trial tested durations on a specific caliber.
