I was target shooting in my usual spot in the forest, when (after about 10 rnds) a large forest service water truck pulled up and out comes a guy that says "you can't shoot here in fire season". "Reallly" I said, "am I in trouble?" as he was pulling on a jacket in 90 degree heat. "Are you going to pack up and go?" He asked... "Why not, I'm not going to argue with you" I said. He laughed got back in the truck and left.
Ok, so they must have a policy, but what are the odds....really. I mean it is squirrel season, is he going to say the same thing to a person hunting? I've hunted deer in a season that was considered extreme fire danger, no problem....Honestly I think they're just trying to limit the numbers of people in the woods, they can't really think it's going to start a fire. At least I can't think of a way it would.
Now I have to wait till it rains.....or dear season which ever comes first...to do some shooting, or go to the official shooting range and pay up, to shoot. pooie...

I shot an African Wildcat in South Africa with some Hornady 300 gr. FMJ bullets at night. When the bullets hit rocks, there were all sorts of sparks so I guess it's conceivable it could start a fire. Another time I was target shooting at a target backed by old tires filled with rocks. After a number of shots through about the same place, the tires started smoking. I thought it would stop but after a time had to pour water down the tires to stop the smoking. That was with jacketed bullets.
Anyway, I'm fortunate in that I can go out into my back yard and shoot whenever I like.

I wonder if it was fire risk he was worried about or were you too close to a plantation that he didnt want discovered. you know looks like tomatoes and is frowned upon by the authorities.
maybe he just wanted an excuse to stop and chat you up Suz.

Here in Oz, no hunting allowed if there is fire danger.
I suppose it is just common sense, because if anything happened,
the cost to undo can be priceless.

Same here in a lot of spots. Public ranges wont allow any projectiles with steel in them- if it sticks to a magnet it gets confiscated till ya leave.
And since ya got kicked out, feel free ta move in with me. (no doilies, fancy curtains, weird junk like that....or potpouri- had to look up the spelling on that one... )

Do as you are told? Oh my my my....tikka I just found that it's much easier to go with authoritarian flow rather than fight it, and it keeps the blood pressure in check too. It would be a fine trait in a man too, it's one you learn in the military.
He may have been wary tho, as he was getting out of the truck (wearing a t-shirt) he grabbed a light coat and put it on, it was at least 90 degrees out there. Now why would he do that? Lookin for a tussle? I dunno. I thought he was going to give me a ticket or fine or something, so I easily said I'd get out of there no problem. He got back in the truck and left before I did.
Stovie...................I'm not movin to So. Cal for any reason period. There's some very nice places there but....really you should consider moving here. I'm not inviting you to my place (I'm silly that way and my space is too small and Jon likes to choke people) but this is really a nice place to live. Jobs are scarce but you can camp along the river.....I saw a small camp today along the river...some very trashy drug addicts put up a tent in a clearing. As I was walking by (it's in the 90s and sunny) I kept looking over all the trash and noticed there were faces in the trash. These guys were passed out in the sun under sleeping bags or blankets and it was about 4:00pm, hottest part of the day. Their faces were fried lobster red. Wish I had a big noisy dog, I'd go wake em up tomorrow morning, that'd be fun! Take the video camera....
Jon has his shirt off, asleep sitting up on the couch. His boobs are as big as mine. What a laugh!! I'm gonna get one of my bras and put it on him....He didn't think it was funny...I took a picture tho....When Jon goes away I'll look for a man with smaller boobs. Men are built funny. Jon just got weighed for a physical and he weighs the same but looks fatter. More gut and boobs, no legs, no butt.....good lookin guy tho, that's fer sher.
I just turned 56 and my hair is still coal black except for a couple gray hairs around my temples. It's about down to the middle of my back and I'm going to let it grow till I trip over it. It looks so cool when I braid it. My ancestors braided their hair and wound it into a huge bun right on top of their head. Old photos of relatives and Elders show some very proud handsome people. Lots of ugly ones too, that sun will wrinkle you bad.
gimme an
inch, and
I'll take a

Thanks Omni for that link, I was checkin out the sat. images where you can see the smoke, that's pretty cool. Click the arrow under the photo and it goes back a day at a time. In Oregon it looks like one of the volcanoes is popping off but it's just smoke in the Mt. Hood area.
