What is your system for CCW for a 1911 in winter/summer?

Thank you.

Open carry (summer and winter) Yaqui Slide. Concealed carry (summer and winter) Nighthawk IWB Weapon...Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II .45 ACP. I do carry, on ocassion, a .357 magnum S&W Mod 19 2 1/2" IWB appendix (Kellogg Costum Leather) or a Firestar M43 9X19 IWB (Kramer Leather).

But, mostly the Kimber...

Pop,
I do not carry a 1911 anymore. However when I did carry my long slide 1911, I uses a Bianchi strong side hip holster during the winter, under a loose fitting jacket. Simple but effective. Like Bushy I do on occasion carry a revolver, a S&W model 66 four inch in an Andrews cross draw rig, under an open jacket in the winter. My normal carry gun today, winter and summer, is a KelTec 380 auto in the back pocket uner a hankerchief to hide the outline. I find that I carry the KelTec where as I was reluctant to carry the 1911 at any time but winter and then less and less as time went by.
Best,
Ed

I use a Aker White Lightning for my 5", and have a Milt Sparks Watch Six IWB on order. Cant wait to receive it and try it out. The Aker works OK, but requires a longer untucked shirt to conceal the 5" barrel. With the Sparks IWB, only the grip will have to be concealed by a shirt.

Depending on what I've been carrying for duty, Fobus for concealed carry or Blackhawk Serpa CQC for concealed, open and duty carry.

Getting a Bladetech Revolution for tacitcal stuff and a Simply Rugged 'Cuda for personal...I really like the 'Cuda as it has a sweat gaurd and Rob's holsters last a lifetime.
I personaly dont like holsters that expose the muzzle, for a few reasons.

Not too shabby! Nice to see we think alike. No exposed parts = better conceal and less chance of damage/coming out of batttery.

Oh- and the '60s called, they want their reel-to-reel back! Poke ( Wink ...I kid I kid!)

That, Sir, is a Pioneer RT-707 R to R(circa 1978). Into a 1975 Sony SQR-6750 four channel receiver with SQ Full Logic and Wave Matching. Among other components

I gotta old Sony 9v AM in the garage I got for Xmas back in '65.
Same's about the extent of my hi-tech thingy's now...

Pop had a 'qaudra-phonic' unit, true quad too w/ the joystick and everything. And, yes, a reel-to-reel too on the side....

Yer components look pretty darn cherry, looks like you take great care of them. I actually like that vintage stuff. Lost a nice Dual 510 turntable and a Marantz quad reciever w/ AR10 speakers when some dirtball busted into my pad a couple decades ago. They don't make them like they used too and I like the sound of the vintage gear better. It's "warmer".

A turntable what is that used for?

I heard of them before but I was just a baby..... That is my wife's line. Makes me feel real young. Smile
Best,
Ed

PS Kevin, The Dual demo is a killer, if you ever saw it, Dual hanging by steel cable from one corner, spinning like a top, booming out music like it is mounted flat and level. Yep, a class act if there ever was one.

I was really into turntables back in the '70's. I've seem some that were belt driven remotely with 40lb platters to try and eliminate feedback, flutter and wow. It was nuts the lentghs some would go to to get rid of rumble and noise.

I aint ever seen nutting like you described though! Wow!

Ok- threadjack totally my fault on this one.... Laughing

United Audio Dual 1229/Grado (Gold)....

With the right rig you can hide a cannon under a shirt. I hide this one under a summer shirt unbottoned and not tucked in. Do have to watch the wind though...

Most (about 99.9%) don't even notice that you might be carrying. We carry so many other odds and ends from our belts these days. I open carry around the house and property and you would be suprised how many don't even notice my .45 ACP...

Copy that...at home I carry my 2" M-605 .357 w/ 38+P mostly.... in a Simply Rugged pancake (I've posted pics of it before) man does it hide good! I have a lil more trouble conseaing the Govt model cuz I aint a big man so... I'm gonna get some IWB straps for the 'Cuda and a larger set of pants, most of my trousers only gots enough room for me in them anymore, holidays don't help there either Embarassed ...IWB is a great way to CCW a slim, dehorned single-stack like the 1911 w/ slimtech grips. My tactical bud's gimme grief over it but it's about the only way I can hideout a big pistol like that. I also like the 'cuda's little sweat gaurd so ya only have to wear one shirt with it.
