Two days of hiking in 90* heat.
Kicked 10,0000000000000000000 bushes, at least.
Zero birds fer me.
Had two birds jump 40-50 yards in front of me for some reason on Saturday and, fly towards a house ....gone before I could get my gun up. No shot anyway. I shot some bushes 10 yards in front of me well, just because. And I felt better.
I had some pretty high hopes of really cleaning up but...oh well, like the say- "that's huntin'!"
Someone shot a Mojave green ratter (pic didn't make it???). At least someone killed something. Good thing too as them things is deadly and very aggresive from what I hear.
One of my club mates got 3 birds, another 4, another team found a covey and worked it good and got 15. No clue where that was. Yay for them!
Me?.... Back to hiking, sweating and kicking bushes.
Glad my club mates fed me or I'da starved. Saw 3 birds flush total. None in range.
I even had my lucky pants, shirt, socks and boots on.
Lucky I didn't get bit by a snake. So I guess the clothes were working.
Oh well, gun just needed a wipe down and put back in the safe.
I learned some spots though and, where the water is out there.
Actually saw a few (5) birds running in one spot....so I'll be back in two weeks. It'll be cooler and I'm hunting where I want this time. Nearer water and farm fields.
Thank God for beer and good club mates.
