I wanted to get some heaver bullets and all I could find was Nosler ballistic tipped 180 gr. and .323 caliber so I bought them (not thinking about the powders I have on hand and the rarity of finding more powder) I never thought about load data, until I got home and started looking through my books. I would like to load with Win 748 as I have more of it. I found data for H-4895 (I have little, not much). The load data on here doesn't address my problem. Anyone here have any load data for Nosler using Win 748?

UPDATE: OK what happened was I got missiles firing all over the place, on the targets. You guys failed to tell me that ball powder (generally) needs magnum primers, that is if you are using CCI primers, I didn't tell you that though. So you're off the hook, anyway now I'm working up some loads with magnum primers, CCI250 and getting great results. I'm starting from the bottom, just shot some loaded with 42gr and got real nice pattern but very low on the target (actually about a foot low) and I just loaded up some that are 42.5gr and 43 gr and we'll see what happens. I was able to find 200 magnum primers for $6 at a gun show, coulda bought more but I didn't want to push my luck (not knowing if I'd be able to use them). So anyway I'm sort of judging where they hit on the target (high or low) as a comparison of ballistics with the other loads I've done, that work fine. I decided to not adjust my scope (again high or low) because I'm shooting at 100yds and want the darn things to be powerful enough to be effective. Without a chrono to measure by, I figured this would be a good indication of how much to load my rounds (within reason of course I don't wanna blow my head off). Comments are surely welcome!

Welcome aboard HuntingNut Suzanne...grab a Chardonnay, pull up a stump and sit awhile.

Can't say I'm familiar with this particular bullet, however there will be some here that are and I reckon they will be along fairly soon.

Cheers, Vince

Pumpkinslinger!! You made my day!! They post several 180gr loads and I have to thank you for the reply because I've been searching and searching and couldn't find any to compare to the one load I have for it. Thank You! I was doing some research on it and decided I'd do about 43-44gr of Win and actually found the starting load on the website is 42gr., so I wasn't far off, but I don't wanna be an experimenter and try something unproven. Much safer this way. That's a great website.

Thanks guys, just loaded 44gr Win748, can go up to 48gr, I want to use it as a hunting load because of the price of the bullets and the type. Guess I forgot to tell ya it's for a Mauser M24/52c. Been using Prvi Partizan and reloading the brass, but the other day found some new Win brass and the Nosler ballistic tips so decided to use them for hunting rounds, but like I said couldn't find any load data to use the Nosler and Win 748. I'm in and out of work this week (I work for a guy that likes to travel this time of year and he's off to Europe) so may not get to try out the roundright away, but I'll give ya a range report later.

Joe,
Be careful using the info on that site. Some of those loads are way over maximums listed in any of my books.

How you doin' friend Bushmaster?
I have been too busy lately, mostly with projects but going the 150 miles twice a week to visit with my mom has broken the hum-drum up.
I think I need to take a sabbatical - just to get me on the right page with me.
I'm a little depressed but over all still very much alive.
