Finding the holster has been a little problematic for me. Right now I am using a soft inside the pant holster and I do not like it at all.

I have three guns I want to buy holsters for, but I am unsure about what I want and my disabilities make the decision even more difficult.

The guns are;
.357 Mar Ruger police Six revolver,
Taurus 9MM PT111 Pro Millennium,
Taurus 40 S&W PT 24/7 Pro

I know, take them to a gun show and try several.

But, I am looking for some advice first from guys I've grown to trust.

Here's the problems;

I walk with a cane in my right hand, I can draw and fire easily, but I need the gun canted way forward if it's on my hip, or behind the back, just because nerve damage has left me a little less than limber.

My left hand can fire the guns but cannot draw the guns, it is partially paralyzed.

One thought I had was a left hip holster canted forward for a cross draw.

What do you think?

Hey Lester, I just posted on Spam-O-Rama that last night my Blackhawk Serpa holster that I ordered from the NRA Store just arrived.
It is the most comfortable holster that I have had on, and is perfect for CCW.
It is made for CCW, and holds real close to the hip.
You have to specify what pistol that you are using when you order it.
When your pistol is holstered, it locks it into the holster, and the gun can only be removed by pushing a button with you index finger. I can pull out my 1911 about as fast as a quick draw, because the release button is set perfectly while drawing the gun.
There is also adjustments on both the Paddle and Belt attachments, so you can have the holster set the way that you prefer.
Either straight up, tilted far forward, or far to the back.

It costs from the NRA only $35.00 and I think that it is exactly what you are looking for.

Eric

I'm gonna have to agree with You there Ely. I use a Black Hawk Serpa for my duty carry as well as my CCW. Don't go with a crossdraw, it's way too slow. The Serpa can be adjusted for a forward cant.

OK, so I went and looked and it looks like a pretty good rig, but it does not list the two pistols that it would be for: Confused

Taurus 9MM PT111 Pro Millennium, and the
Taurus 40 S&W PT 24/7 Pro

Which model will work? Sad

How about the revolver? Very Happy

Thanks for the help, and I would like to order the NRA holsters, just cause it's NRA stuff. Flag

Lester...Have you thought of maybe appendix carry IWB. That would place the gun near your right hand in front and to the right about 1:00 to 1:30. As long as you aren't afraid of shotin' yerself in the favorites. I carry a S&W Mod 19 2 1/2" Combat Magnum in that manor.

As a matter of fact Gelandangan...It's quite comfortable in that when you bend over or are in a sitting position the grip tends to be to one side. It's the barrel that takes some gettin' used to in that the holster has to break in to fit your leg. It works real well when you are driving as it is easily presented.

Besides...It's just a thought for Lester. You know...An idea...

Eric, me boy...You couldn't hi-jack a Volkswagon...

I'm sure that they do make one for the 24/7 and I know they make them for revolvers but not sure what make and model.

Good idea 221. That makes a good excuse to buy another gun, that is if you really need to make excuses. They do make them for compact 1911's and Springfield has a very reasonably priced GI model with a 3" or a 4" barrel. www.springfield-armory.com

I think a cross draw holster would be the way to go. A cross draw holster isn't slow to draw from as long as it has no retention strap, is comfortable and accessible in multiple body positions and hides a handgun well.

I just bought one from Kramer Handgun Leather that I'm very happy with but it was a bit pricey.

In Lester's case particularly I think I would opt for the cross-draw too. That would also keep the firearm in an easily accessible position while seated or driving. Another option, depending on flexibility would be the various "small of the back" holsters. These position the gun nearly horizontally and can be quite fast, but are useless while seated.
