Bloody Idiot!!

Just want to vent some frustration.

I have just fired an employee.
After 3 years working for me, she gain the trust to handle the keys and alarm codes to my shop.
Then, as I quickly review the surveillance camera (did this weekly)..
I saw her removing money from my cash register... What a moron!!

Job is hard to get now days and she just throw it away.. and for what?.. 20 bloody bucks!!
Was going to promote her to a store manager position within the year too..

Goddamnittohell!!!!! Mad

Sorry to here that but it is better to find out early that you can't trust her then after many years of skimming off of you............. Sad

The worst part is wondering how much she managed to take before.

Unless you use EPOS, then there are several ways an employee can skim small amounts in a manner that is hard to detect.

I'm expanding my business this year & the most worrying part is finding someone to employ, as I don't trust anyone any more.

I have run a shop for 24 years, been employing many different persons.
I run a shop where the items sold are of high value in small volume.
Because of that, we have video surveillance on almost every square inch of the premises and the Cash register have 3 cameras (from top front, left and right).. the only place not under surveillance is the toilet.

Usually we watch them carefully and only the ones that passed the "test" got keys and codes.
They were warned that they are under constant surveillance whilst in the property.
We tally (and empty) the register a few times a day and never keep large notes in.

The idiot KNOWS that there is camera looking at her, but she thought that the camera only operates/recording when the shop is open.
So she decided to stick her hand in the change box early morning where no one is around (she got the key and alarm codes).
All she got is small changes (we do not keep more than $100 small changes in the premises)
Moron!!!!

Sorry to hear about that. But I find it funny how people think stealing from their employer "non-monetary" items is "ok" but they turn around and say that if someone does it to someone else its wrong. Some people can't grasp that stealing from a store, or their workplace is the same as stealing from another person. Lousy morals and ethics I'd say.

I think the lady upstairs got upset with me when I made a record of what I used on my last project so they can bill me (we get a employee discount at work as well). Everything down to the little washers I used was accounted for on my slips. Laughing

I personally have realized a long time ago that its the people who you THINK you can trust that screw you over the most. As such I rarely lend money out to people and I generally act like a old coot saying "don't touch it" when people grab something and "ask" after they have it in their hands. I can honestly count the number of people I'd lend more then a toonie (2$ coin) to in a single hand. Shocked

Hey Gelan....I'm really sorry to hear that mate...tattoos cost a lot of money mate Wink

. Dismissing employees is not an easy or palatable task, but it has to be done sometimes.

Maybe you need to be very explicit in your job interviews that video surveillance is everywhere in the shop for the sake of security for both merchandise and employees safety.
