Well I'm more or less ready for my second try for an elk.

Bags are packed & Passport, flight tickets, etc. all put away safe.

It's a bloody long haul from the UK to Albuquerque 171/2 hours in total but worth every minute.

I'll be up in Colorado GMU 751 a week from now & no doubt wondering where all the oxygen went wtf Very Happy as I'm used to the air at 15' above sea level, rather than 9,000'

This is going to be FUN. Very Happy Very Happy

Hey Mike...Do a lot of jogging or anything that makes you breath deep and hard (without giving you a heart attack). Start slow and work up. That will give you a larger lung capacity. It will help, some. If you have a steep long hill near you, walking up it as fast as you can will do it too...

It's a little too late for getting fit now - I fly out in exactly 12 hours. Very Happy

I suffered a back injury 23 years ago when I had a logging company that puts any kind of running out of the question.

I just kind of switch the pain off & plod away - gets me there in the end. Very Happy

There's this ridge in 751 that two of my friends named "cardiac hill" - up 1,000' then down the other side, with a return the same way. I'm doing that on day one, as it takes you way off the beaten track to some high meadows with a couple of ponds. Plenty of elk seen there.
