Hi! Who want to buy the gun of Purdey&Sons?

16-bore Hammerless ejector gun No. 20176

Completed December 1911

Original barrel length: 28 1/2" (724mm)

Original chamber length: 2 1/2" (65mm)

Original chokes: 3/4 & Full

Original stock length: 14 3/8" (365mm)

Original weight: 6 lb 3 oz (2.80 kgs)

In 1914 the gun was bought by a Mr. Denisoff who had an extra pair
of 26" (66cm) barrels made and the gun was possibly fitted with a new
stock.

The weight was increased to 6 lb 5 oz (2.86 kgs) and sling swivels were
fitted to both pairs of barrels.

The modifications to the gun makes me think it was used for something other than shooting game.
It wouldn't surprise me if it turned out that Mr. Denisoff was a British Army officer & took it to France in 1914.
Young officers of a certain social standing often took their expensive shotguns with them into the trenches during the Great War, until the German snipers started targeting those carrying them: shotgun = officer.
