Just finished shooting 50 rds. through a new VS SF II. Measured chamber length and was somewhat shocked of the amount of freebore. Loaded 50 rds. w/new win. brass, 52 gr. SMK's, 38gr. of Re-15. Shot and cleaned after each rd. for the first 10 shots, then fired the remaining rds.in 3 shot groups, cleaning after each rd. Rds 44 thru 46,and 47 thru 49, shot (.260") and (.220") respectively, with .065" of "JUMP". Point being......

Welcome to the boards, drag up a stump, cold beverage and kick back.

Yep, most guns shoot just fine with a good bit more freebore than one would imagine is possible for good groups. I could give a list but it is not necessary as you are now a member of the "I believe it cause I saw it" choir. Very Happy Very Happy

If you ever get the chance, just for S & Gs, load up an 85 Sierra in a 96 Mauser. The 85 must have a half inch (.500) of jump and it will still shoot sub .5 MOA.

Excellent point. So many people get wigged out about leade, when mechanical concentricity is much more important.

Welcome to the fourms holen1

Recent chat in the fourms here has led me back to the loading bench to do some measuring and checking how much bullet jump I have in some other rifles. Due to magizine dimensions I never attempted to set the bullets out any longer in these guns. Yea !! they're a jumping alright.

Wecome holen1. As Swampy said...grab a seat and a beer and relax. Be looking forward to your input mate.

Good to see that you are happy with your .220 Swift...a damn fine calibre.

Like chambered221, I too did some more measuring after reading the posts here, and started to worry about whether or not I could improve upon .7" at 100m for my .243 WIN. I eventually gave my self a bit of a slappin' and remembered that the rifle was capable of more accuracy than I am...so I left things alone. If it ain't broke....don't fix it.

Cheers, Vince

Mr Vince,

You have reminded me of the reason I started reloading.

Thanks again!
