Just wondering how many women are on this forum and how many of you guys have a wife or girlfriend that hunts?
My wife does not hunt but encourages me to go. And she loves to eat bear and venison, but no small game critters, will eat upland birds and waterfowl, no javelina!
I read somewhere that Montana has the highest percentage of female hunter (around 50 % I think).

Girls that hunt ??
Not around here. Never met one so far.
I think I should move to Montana or something.

My wife hunts alot. Shes taken many Deer, Antelope... even a caribou. Havent gotten her an elk yet though. Shes taken deer with Rifle, Muzzleloader and last year, a bow now.
My brother's wife hunts alot too, shot a mt goat 3-4 years ago. My cousin's wifes all hunt alot. Its not uncommon to see a woman in orange with a rifle during a hunt.

I have to field dress ALL my wifes game, she's alittle squeemish. Wife dont hunt often but she does hunt. My Mother used to deer hunt with Dad too.

Welcome to the site bamabelle.
My wife since this thread began, shot her first elk (a cow). Since we've been married only a single year has passed where she didnt get her deer (she got shots, just couldnt hit it LOL). She wont touch'em when it comes to field dressing them but is fine with helping to drag, load or cut up.

My wife hunts too, although she usually cuts her season in half by sleeping in every day during the season.

Even though she sleeps in, how many deer does she kill. That's what's important.
I wish I could get my wife to go hunting. She won't even touch a gun or eat deer meat. She does like elk though. I was going to buy her a .380 Kel-Tec one time and OMG!!! you'd think I was trying to poison her.

I'd love to go kill something. I just don't have the time to get the stupid hunter safety course done. Everytime I try life gets in the. I want to go wild pig hunting and I have the gun to do it with all ready to go. It's just that with teaching high school I really have no time until the kiddies are out for the summer. Though I do love eating wild pig, bear jerky, and making mince meat.
I used to fish A LOT until the creek was taken over by rattle snakes and mercury. No I don't even get out to do that.
Around hear not many girls hunt but than again not many men do either.

Dimitri-
I know your trying to help and I will look into if they are having the course soon. But it's a three step process just to get to the course. (Now that I have a job step four: Money is no longer an issue.)
Step one: Find out when they have the safety course again.
Step two: Overhaul truck so it can last the next few years. (Poor thing has like 200,000+ miles on it.)
Step three: Not have life get in the way. (That's what happened the last 2 times. First time was in finals and finishing my thesis for grad school. Second time mom was still sick and needed to be taken care of.)

Tink,
I know we all have things that get in the way. And some things come first.
Here is a list of places for the courses so you don't got to look it up:
www.dfg.ca.gov/huntere...asses.aspx
Also in California your lucky can do internet courses then take a 4 hour practical with a instructor.
www.dfg.ca.gov/huntere...study.aspx
One such site with the course online: www.hunter-ed.com/ca/
