Does anyone have experience using one of these tools that reforms 22
LR lead bullets? Is it worth a try? I would like to improve accuracy to shoot squirrels out to 100 yards plus have better terminal performance.

Bushy, this is not a new gimmick. It has been around as long as you have been.

Be as it may. .22 ammunition has been around longer then the both of us. You would think that they (the manufacturers) would have done all they can to improve the round. And they have, but i doubt that those dies will improve them more.

SJ, I made me a little tool so that I could easely file the top of a .22 LR flat. Try it and you will be surprised: smaller groupes + much more leathal when you shoot doves or other small game.
BUT: I think I live in the only region in the world where rimfire is not allowed for hunting... stupid but true! Only in the Flemish part or our country... in the South where they speak French the .22 LR is still allowed!
I true believe that your president indeed would get a lot of votes in Europe when you was allowed in an election...

Slim,
The only way to find out if it will work for you is to try it.
See if you can find one used that is less expensive. If you like it you can keep it, if not you can send it to someone else to try.
I went through a lot of 22 ammo before I found what my gun liked. Now I buy it by the case.
My son found that one of the worst rounds in my shot very well in his. So he got what I had left and that is what he buys.

That's the way it's done Paul. I found that CCI Mini-mags work the best overall in my two .22's. A Colt Woodsman and a Winchester M290. I pot armadillos and opossums at 80 yards from my deck with the rifle.

Yeah, I hear you, buy and try more ... but ... I already have more 22LR ammo than I can shoot up before I die. I may just give one of these Paco's a try to see if it turns some solid points into a good HP ... but ... I already have too many projects sitting around waiting for me to find time.

I have made one of similar thing, yes it does improve the accuracy somewhat only if you can hit the projectiles with the same force to the same heights.
Perhaps the one made by paco can do this, but mine seems to give uneven projectile heights due to the different forces and hammer speed I used to hit the ram. I am simply not consistent enough.
You hit it too fast, the brass case cuts into the projectile and it simply sink down the case. You supposed to hit it slow and repeatedly so it would deform only the tip, with the brass deforms inwards and grip the projectile harder.
The hollow point ram I made perhaps is too aggressive that the CCI standard velocity projectile shatters inside the rabbit and ruin its meat.
So I stop using it.

Thanks, gelandangan. Useful information. I saw one guy on youtube that used a built a jig with vertical rods to drop a weight the same distance every time. It looks like this process needs this type of consistency.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but Bushy, I know you are in southern Missouri, but you have armadillos that far north? Didn't realize their range had expanded that far. Interesting.

Really surprised. Used to go down to that area in the late 70s for an occasional trip. Never heard about them or saw any. Lots can happen since then. I never thought of them being that far north. Very interesting.
