Great story...just saw this post.
I first read about Mr. Howard in a book by Maj. John Plaster about the SOG soldiers in Vietnam.
The book is excellent, and highlights another hero by the name of Roy Benevidez who just recently had a book written about him.
Those guys were MEN!
