I was reading an article about an African game ranch that was working on increasing its elephant population. They transplanted some cows and calves to start a herd. After a while the calves became teenagers and then something unexpected, and bad, happened. These teenagers became overly aggressive and started killing other animals and attacking the tourists. The folks at the ranch were worried that the teenagers would have to be destroyed. An elephant expert suggested another plan. He told them to import some mature bulls and place them with the herd. This hadn’t been done at the beginning because the bulls were harder to capture and transport. In a short time after the bulls were in place the problems ended. The teenagers learned to behave, and their place in the society. The mature bulls provided the example and discipline they needed.
Why would we think that a “herd” of people would operate any differently?

Agreed. Some people just cannot see what is logical or self evident.

they took out the matriarchs and destroyed the herd structure and things turned to custard..... some times we are very slow to learn the lessons Mother nature sets out for us.
