Well I haven't tried the accubonds, but shoot the swift sciroccos. The bullets are great and always bring home the meat. They are easy to load accurate and make quick kills.

Take care Reuben

I have used the 140 accubond in my .270 Sendero for the past two years. Shoots as well or better than the Nosler Ballistic Tip. Have got two mulies and two moose. Recouvered two of the bullets. Weighted 93.8 gr amd 92.4 gr.
Have just made up a load for my partners 7mm mag with the 160 gr Accubonds and they group about 1" and less depending on how I'm shooting that day.
Can't say enought good about them. The only way to fly in my books
Didn't know they made a 140 gr. in 7 mm.

I absolutely love the new Nosler Accubonds. When they came out I wanted to load them in my .300 Winchester Magnum, but they only came out with the 200 grainer that year. I decided to try it anyway. Am I glad I did. After some workup I found a load that drove bullets m.o.a. on a consistent basis with an average velocity for 10 shots of 3038 fps.

I shot a bull elk this past fall at 50 yards. The shot I was presented made me shoot him on the point of the shoulder as he quartered towards me. That bullet went through the shoulder joint, reducing it to wet bone dust and continued on through the ribs (quarter size entry) and took out lung to expire the animal. As I was dressing the bull out I found the bullet in the body cavity. It weighed 104 grains for 52% weight retention. It looked a lot like a partition (which in my book is a good thing).

I have also shot the 180 grain version of the Scirocco and have found it to be deadly, but it does tend to flatten out more. I think the accubond in real world scenarios will penetrate a bit better, but the difference will be negligable.

Go with the accubond, I don't think you will be sorry.

Here is a picture of the 200 grain Nosler Accubond I retrieved from my elk. Next to it is a virgin bullet.

Sorry, guys, but weight retention less than 60% is less than impressive to me. For my own hunting use I load only Barnes X bullets, and I have never yet retrieved a bullet with under 93% weight retention, and that includes test bullets fired into a sand bank! I started reloading as a Nosler Partition fan, but I believe I have found something much better. Feel free to disagree, but allow me to have my own opinion.

I spent a heap of money trying to get BarnesX's to shoot. Even XLC's weren't worth a crap out of my 7STW. Frustrated I bought a box of cheap-o factory Rem 140 grn cartridges... they shot under 1". I then bought a box of Safari Grade ammo with the Swift-AFrames, which again hovered right at 1" groups.

I wish the XLC's would have shot better but they are IMO, incredibly picky to get to shoot well.

I killed my elk this year at 380 yards with a single shot of the Safari grade ammo this year. when I get some more time this summer I plan to work up some new leadcore bullet loads. Not sure atm if I'll go partition, accubond, Scirocco or GrooveBullets.

Howdy. I bin a fan of nosler for a long time. Have had great expierence with the partition. The ballistic tip is one accurate bullet but have had some entrance holes on deer i could put my fist in ( shoulder shots ) and more than once. Lung shot does pretty good. Took two deer this year with the combined technology silver ballistic tip in 7mm both lung shots it did very well i dont think i want to shoot the shoulder with it im worried i will get the same effect as the standard b/t. Im gonna try the accubonds and hopefully i will get b/t accuracy with partition performance.

I reload the Nosler Bal. Tips in my 22 and 6mm centerfires. However, I much prefer the Nosler Partitions for 6.5 and larger. We probably have as many moose as deer in Canada, and I usually load up the Speer Gran Slams, and Rem. Core Loks for them along with the Nosler Partitions. I guess old habits die hard so I haven't tried the Barnes yet. Best wishes.

Dallan –

You might want to give the North Fork bullets a try. My 20+ year-old Ruger M77 has always been a good sub-MOA shooter but turned in the best 3-shot group ever with the North Forks – 0.266” center to center. They are built like a Speer Trophy Bonded but with grooves.
www.northforkbullets.com/

In my Marlin .45-70, the North Forks give me the most consistent loads I have ever built – by far. I’ve purchased some to use in my .300 Win Mag but haven’t had time to work up the loads yet.

BTW, I’ve had excellent results with the .257 115g TSX and .308 180g TSX.

Wow thanks for the suggestion. Those might be the ticket out of my STW... I've been wanting something with less friction and have been looking for moly type bullets but nothing has shot very well.

Thanks again for the tip

Hi Joe,
In my attempt to find the factory loads my new T/C barrels liked best, I tried all the "premium loads" with all kinds of bullets. The Accubond was one of them. I had fair results with the 243 barrel but the 308 one gave me terrible groups. Now let me add that the headspace problems (and misfires) with these barrels couldn't really give the bullets a fair trial. Now that I'm back into handloading, I'm going to use my bullet puller and re-use the remainder of all my premium bullets in my new "super consistent" rounds that I'm working on now. I trust that I'll be able to give them a fairer test. If you do get some, would you let me know how they turned out?

Blaine
