Saw a top saying on the back of a 4WD this morning...described many situations I can think of. What was the saying...
Tough as a Rough Dogs Nuts in the bush.

It really gave me a laugh.

Yeah...we can be a bit weird in that we use real life situations to describe things...and of course there is the other factor...we can be oddball, well, weird Laughing Laughing

I'm with Vince on this one, some colloquialisms are worth sharing!
Keep em coming mate.
Just remember you may have to explain a couple to the northern brethren

Thanks for these although the "Trough Monster"one could be used for either gender. Having hunted rabbits with beagles I understood Vince's first reference immediately.

I have two favourates given me by a friend from Quebec. These are translations from French but lose nothing in translation. Where we might say that when someone has undertaken a project bigger than they can handle that they have "Bitten off more than they can chew" he would say "They will break their teeth on it." We say "You can't make a a silk purse out of a sows ear." He would say "You can't make chocolate out of manure."

Around here we have an expression for saying goodbye to someone who has overstayed their welcome. "Don't let the door (or gate) hit you in the arse when you leave."

MacD, we have a saying here in the south, "Dont let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya."

Mac, we use all of those you mention with the exception of the last one, that's new to me.

DS, we have a similar one that is a little more to the point...don't let the door hit you in the arse as you leave.
