If I understand correctly the new VX1 is the equivalent of the old vari-x 2. I believe it has the same type of adjustments(non-clicking) that the vari-x2 has.It also has similar lense coatings.I dont own a new VX1 but cant imagine you would be dissapointed.I have 4 Leupolds and love them.Only brand I have tried that I have been 100% satisfied.I have tried Weavers,Burris, simmons ,tasco, and bushnell.I recently called Leupolds custom shop to see if they could install the long range duplex in my vari-x2 but they are only able to in the new VX series,so I might be purchasing a new one to.

I have a VX-I (3-9X-40mm) It does not have positive clicks. It is very clear. Not as clear as the VX- II in 40mm I compared it with, but pretty nice. In fact I have another one coming that should be here tomorrow. My wife is buying me a VX- II 3-9X -50mm for my birthday. I'm anxious to compare it to my VX-I's. The larger obj lens makes a world of difference.
