My wife and younger son (20) have just departed NZ for the sunny climes of New York City - Heh Heh Heh -12 Deg C last time I looked and snowing. The boss has never been in snow so I reckon I'll hear the whinging from here.

Ive been left at home as I don't really get into the Miami Heat Basketball and J Zee concert thing. Plenty of clothing packed and a fair bit of coin should they require more.

I got home tonight after dropping them off in Auckland, fixed myself a couple of COLD beers - its about 26 Deg C here at home at the moment, made a pasta dish with a salad for dinner and promptly got out some venison back steaks for dinner tomorrow night. Dog at my feet, TV off! I could get used to this.

The didn't see that coming moment ….hearing that the Polar Vortex is getting worse on the news tonight. Bless em.

I reckon you're right, you can get used to peace and quiet at home and she has no idea how cold NewYork is, there are also more people in 2 city blocks than kiwis full stop.

I'm about 7hrs north of New York City and we have just gotten off of -20C to -30C temps. Right now we have freezing rain (about +4C) and the temp is to drop to -19C overnight, and then -15C for the next few days and -3C on Friday and +1C on Saturday.

NYC is going to be warmer than us. _12C Tuesday, 14C Wed, +4 Thurs, +6C Fri, +10C Sat.

Can't understand "C" temps, but here in Ava, MO it is.........Degrees "F".

I don't know how you guys can stand that cold nasty weather, at least you get to see the sun once in a while. I've been fogged in for weeks and freezing fog on the widshield is a pain. Going to finally get some rain and the temps will raise a smidge this week. National news this morning said all the lower 48 states will have freezing temps, and as usual that means all of the 48 that are east of the rockies. Don't know why the east coast national news is even broadcast on the west coast, they have no idea what goes on west of the Mississippi. If there's a traffic jam in NY state we get to hear about it. The west coast is having a much nicer winter than the east coast and the freezing here might only be early morning. Otherwise it's the usual high 30s in the morning and mid 40s during the day. Sensationalizing the global warming and it's colder than it's been in decades, but if you ask them the global warming has caused the colder weather. Just like raising the debt ceiling is paying off our bills and cutting taxes raises the debt. If i ever get to thinking they know what they're talking about, please take me out in the woods and just fire one shot to let me go.

Yea...sucks most of the time. I grew up on the East coast, escaped to AZ to be with family and the "boring" everyday sun which was a constant reminder that it wasn't going to snow today. AND if it did, it became a Kodak moment. Sure miss that 4% humidity......................

Marinated back steaks, lightly fried and onto a pizza base with a hint of chillie sauce, grated beetroot, red onion, a dash of cheese……oh yeah another salad so I get my veges plus another couple of cold ones…… I told you I could get used to this! 28 Deg C, yeah its warm….
Oh by the way I did take the dog for a 20 minute run before I had the cold ones…Rehydration!

I'm droolin' Elvis...I had to settle for ham steaks with pineapple and melted cheese on top along with a fried egg and fried tomato...not that there is anything wrong with a feed like that mate.

I hope Bec had a really great birthday yesterday mate...and that you looked after her well.
