Guys,
I am not saying Ted is God's gift to anything, he is what he is. But he speaks the language of common people and he talks to people on their level. He does have a tendency to get outside the box on occasion. But it does not make any difference what you "gun nuts" say, if you are pro; the media is going to take every opportunity to make you look like a crazy. Do not let the media convince you that you or your representatives are crazy, go on with the work at hand. Did you expect the media to make Ted look like a hero, now really?
I love the NRA and am a life member.
Now with that said, I have had some serious disagreements with Marion Hammer, from Florida, and her underlings in Florida. Yes they do good and yes they are our front door in the fight. But, they can also screw up support in an election like Hogan's Goat and they have done so in the past.
Wayne is a nice guy and me thinks in many instances he is simply too nice. Many times we need a hammer not sandpaper. Who to do it, well right now the only hammer I know of on the NRA board is Ted. A hammer is not a quiet shrinking violet, they are outlandish by nature.
How did Ted get there, he is a direct result of the member's perception that the NRA was too soft on antis and politicians. The members wanted blood on the bumper and Ted was the answer. So watch and listen to the good stuff and do not be turned by the crazy things that are played time and again.
Forget about how you look, stand up and be counted. Speak your mind and tell people how you feel. Americans like folks to tell it like they think not how they believe someonme else wants them to talk.
Best,
Ed
PS: I own an old established business and have a waiting room in my office. In that waiting room I have a magazine table, on that table are two magazines, one is the Screaming Eagle monthly publication of the 101st Airborne Division Association and the other is the American Rifleman. I care less who likes my choice of reading materials.

Did I get dismissed for saying Ted is crazy or because you don't think I know anything about politics. Yes people in power do things when they are afraid of the masses. You say you have dealt with poltics. Is it because of my age that you think I haven't or for some other reason, because I will love to hear your logic behind it. I have a BA in history where I studied heavely into the thinking of governments and how they worked. I also minored in Constitutional Interpertaion concentration in the the 14th Amendment which is the one that gets pulled out the most with the Due Process claus. I have been working with government for years to get funding for variuos programs and laws enacted. I helped in high school write the smoking ban that became the foundation for several states. It was through perserverance and statistics not scar tactics that got me what I needed. When anyone flys off the handle during an interview as Mr. Nugget often does those who are the quite people who go thru the "proper" channels will freak out and write letters and start campaigns saying we can not let "hot heads" like these do XYZ. When those of us who do believe in our 2nd amendment start making people nervouse the natural human reactiong is to make laws to make them less of a threat. When we first formed this country we did not have the 2nd amendment, we didn't even have a Constitution, after things cooled down it was decided that we needed this right. I will defend myself my rights in any way I think I need to. Currently I do not see the need to go off the deep end. For several years now, most of my life, people have been chanting the phrase they will take X away from us. And while things have been curtailed we still have the right to hunt and own guns. Laws that go against the 2nd Amendment will trypicaly be found unconstitutional and removed, SF's attempt to ban hand guns. I believe we need someone in the middle of the road. I know that might not sound like what some want. We need someone with Ted's passion, who knows how to keep it undercontrol and not look like Tom Cruise jumping on Opra's sofa, and someone who know's the issues and can explain them on a level that everyone can understand. So please stop dismissing people who don't want to jump from the roof for their guns, there are several ways to go about showing your pride and what you believe.
