I hope in Jan 2013!
----------------------
Got a letter from my congressman, oops, congresswoman, Kay Granger, about Obama's latest executive order.
Dear Friend,
With all that is going in Washington these days some things don’t make the news the way they should. Fourteen days ago President Obama issued an Executive Order that you should know about. This order gives an unprecedented level of authority to the President and the federal government to take over all the fundamental parts of our economy - in the name of national security - in times of national emergency.
This means all of our water resources, construction services and materials (steel, concrete, etc.), our civil transportation system, food and health resources, our energy supplies including oil and natural gas – even farm equipment – can be taken over by the President and his cabinet secretaries. The Government can also draft U.S. citizens into the military and force U.S. citizens to fulfill "labor requirements" for the purposes of "national defense." There is not even any Congressional oversight, only briefings are required.
By issuing this as an Executive Order the President puts the federal government above the law, which, in a democracy, is never supposed to happen.
As President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, he has the Constitutional authority to issue executive orders. And while similar orders have been made before by presidents from Eisenhower and Reagan to Clinton and George Bush – it has never been done to this extent.
It is still unclear why this order was signed now, and what the consequences are for our nation – especially during times of peace. This type of Martial Law imposes a government takeover on U.S. citizens that is typically reserved for national emergencies, not in a time of relative peace.
I want you to know I am following this very closely. If you would like to read the order for yourself please click here.
Sincerely,
Kay Granger
Member of Congress

To be fair Lincoln used this same kind of order to start the war of Northern Aggression that killed 620,000 Americans, and Truman (I am pretty sure) issued the first order for national defense similar to this one, and that order has been modified and updated by several presidents along the line. So this is not anything new, but as far as I and many others are concerned it is Un-Constitutional, so as I see it why hasn't Congress overturned these types of orders.
Oh yeah, because if anything happens they will be well taken care of, so why worry as long as all our politicians are well fed, and can fly off to wherever for whatever reason, everything is just hunky dory. Oh, and we can vote ourselves a pay raise, and we can vote ourselves a better retirement program then everyone else, oh, and term limits no we don’t think that’s a good idea, after all look we’re doing a great job.
So here is the conundrum, what (and this is the scary part) in little Barry's mind or Barry's little mind, you choose) constitutes a national emergency, I think that is the real question. Is it when the Supreme Court shoots down his insurance mandate, is it when he is not (I pray) re-elected, although he's running at an approval rating of 46%. The, list of what might send this guy off is longer than I have time to write.
What really aggravates me is the vast majority of American people who are oblivious to what is going on. Pay attention to the government, learn what the Founding Fathers really said, find the truth about election buying and oh I don’t know maybe birth certificates and other documentation that seems fraudulent.
No--we don’t have time for that you silly. We’re too busy going to store riots to buy the new air Jordan’s, and then we need to stand in line for three days picking our collective noses and scratching our butts waiting to get the new I-pod, then we need to get over to McDonald to get our daily ration of pink slime.
Almost done ranting, but one final note. I think its great the Kay Granger sent out that letter to her constituents, (although I wonder how much it cost the already bankrupt treasury, and the tax payers)but she does need to pick up a book the U.S.A is not a democracy it is a Republic.
But then I could be wrong as one of the interesting facts about Executive Orders is that they don’t have to be published during times of national emergency, so maybe a president changed us to a democracy and forgot to tell me.

From what I heard about this, he basically rubber stamped the same order that everyone else before him for decades has been signing, just removed references to the FBI and other organizations and replaced them with the DHS, who is now the over all in charged agency for these kinds of things.

Dimitri wins this one. Making a few changes is the most damning part of this EO.

Santorum is a sheep in wolf's clothing. Romney is a wolf in sheeps clothing. Gangrich is just a plain wolf.
I'll back who ever wins the primary in the hope he defeats obama so we [may] change back to an earlier time.

Yes but left leaning people, at least up here, seem to think he'd be the one to vote for. As Santorum is another war monger, Romney won't think of the "children", and Ron is just crazy.
Or at least that is the impression I get from talking to people about them.

All are politicians and as such should not be trusted.
We should be able to put these lying turds in gaol for fraud if they lie to get into power.

Nope sorry, that would create a national emergency and invoke the powers given to the President, by the President. What a load of BS!! There is no clear and defined authorization of Executive Orders in our Constitution. As President, they are empowered to see that laws are faithfully executed and have used this rather vague clause of our Constitution to circumvent our Constitutional process and our will. Of course it's all done for the greater good.

Check out the list of orders. It is quite informative.
