Canadian gun owners should keep an eye on Ottawa on February 15th. A bunch of us (50) have been invited by a Harper representative to be present in the spectator gallery of the chamber of communes between 1400 hours and 1700hours. We were told that neckties and jackets are the mandatory dress code. Could it be the end of registration for non restricted firearms?

Good Deal! It is about time to kill that monster. And after that, we got to keep our eye on the OAS "tweeking".

Maybe! But then again, they have to respect that a man's home is his castle and even though they have the right to inspect for compliance, it could be very dangerous in exercising those rights of the crown. Especialy out west where the gun registry was hated right from the start and it was the west that got the present government in power to get rid of the registry and to put the rights of people protecting themselves and their property back in place. I do feel for anyone who is the victim of crime with a firearm but it isn't the firearm that is the problem, it is the person wielding the firearm or knife or whatever.

too true ITD but its the same the world over. our worst ever event the Aromoana killings took place over a length of time the gunman was using an AK and a .22. the time he had a person could have done the same with a claw hammer or a muzzle loader or base ball bat. but it was the responsible gun owner/user who wore the brunt of the back lash, and we ended up with a heap of restritions on firearm ownership. the fact that most gun crimes are commited by unlicenced people using stolen or black market guns just gets forgotten.
Thus ends my rant I will get down of the high horse and go n make a cuppa tea before the blood pressure goes any higher.

It is 0h28 and I just got home from Ottawa. We were about 125 gun owners from all over Canada invited to celebrate with the prime minister the vote to abolish the non restricted firearm registry and scrap it. The vote was 159 for and 130 against. Now the conservative controled senate has to debate this law and the governor general should O.K. the package by spring time.

I am off to bed since this old, but very happy, gun owner and hunter has been up since 6 am this morning. Guess who I will vote for at the next federal elections.

Well done mate...now if only that sort of commonsense would spread to Australia.

Cheers, Vince
