If the guy wants his kid to do it the REAL hard way I'd say...one rifle, one bullet and tell him if he wants meat this winter he better not come back empty handed...proper motivation is really what's required. He'd probably kills a big azz buck with seconds left in the season, right Eric?

Bigger wall and Kevlar? hmmm...yeah, can't argue with either of those points. Also considering multiple expensive gifts (of the non-armament variety)

Cindy would probably whip yer butt and take yer chaw of Redman.

Perhaps it would not be good to see a real life hunting show, "What'd ya get? Nutin but track soup" Wouldn't that be interesting? Naw

Ok... This post finally made me crawl out of the Lurkers and become an actual thread poster Very Happy
The subject is deer to my heart. I hunt like most of you. I have permission on a couple small farms but hunt about 80% on public land. I have been hunting for a long time and put a ton of work into scouting and researching. It has rewarded me well with my share of "trophy" bucks. A friend of mine started a TV show called Whitetail Addictions. The therorie is to feature the "regular" hunter who has above average results. At 1st the idea was great to me, and don't take this wrong cause I still think its the best show on TV. He featured me and my kid a few times now shooting some great bucks that we took knocking on doors asking for permission, and off of public land. But we had to compete with the Guys who owned huge farms and leased large parcels for alot of money. I still like being part of that show and still summit footage. I was on Sportsmans channel shooting a 14 pointer last week on a freinds 80 acre hunting property that several people hunt...
Anywho... One other thing that really bugged me was all the sponsor crap. I don't think most people understand how much sponsors control what is said and done on hunting shows. Whitetail Addictions, just like all the rest of the shows out there recieve HUGE amounts of money for useing certain products and making claims about them during the shows. W/A is one of the better ones, but most shows have turned into big infomercials about products and the hunter is required to sift thru the crap and decide whats real and whats advertisment... I HATE IT!
Well, I decided to make a difference... I decided to make a hunting DVD about how regular guys like me get the job done in adverse situations. I did it right too! No sponsors, so no biased product plugs. No Outfitters, or cushy high dollar lease's you and I can't afford. I just hate the "Rich Guy showing off" type DVD's that teach nothing and just show one "purchased" hunt after another... 80% of my DVD was filmed on Wisc. public land... In my DVD you get to see start to finish, exactly how we scout, find, and hunt mature bucks in heavy hunted situations.
It was not an easy venture for a working stiff like me... Me and my two hunting buddys had to put up all the money to fund this DVD because of the "NO SPONSOR" clause. Now we got to put up all the money to go to deer shows and such to promote it... Sure hope it sells!

Here is a link to watch a teaser promo clip for the DVD:
www.bloodbro.com/hunti...hbucks.php

Here is what the DVD package looks like:

Really... What do you Guys think about this concept??? Somewhere down the road, I would like to do TV my way too... But that might be tough to accomplish...

Don't take me wrong partner, but after forty years hunting deer in the Minnesota Northwoods, there isn't much that a youngster like you can inform me on a show that I haven't learned a long time ago on my own.
I would say that Bushy, Tracker, Vince, Swampfox and the rest of the guys could say the same.
Shows like yours might help the beginners, and maybe would sell, but Primos sells his videos for quite a bit less than twenty bucks.

Hey Bushy and Tracker.
Maybe we should make a video on all that we know.
It would most likely have to sell in a ten DVD set though. Very Happy

You might be surprized... I take some pretty big bucks on public land almost every year, where a lot of people who are pretty good hunters never see one for years. I learned a pretty good system. I am sure we could learn from each other. LOL... My tactics are beyond the basics.
The reason it goes for $20. rather than the $10 that others sell for, is it is 2 1/2 hours long, We refused all sponsorship endorsments to pay for production (it was paid out of our pockets)
and any body can cut and paste one kill after another with an occasional tip, but to edit start to finish a procedure is very diffacult. It took me 3 years to edit this DVD. Thanks for the imput, I kind of expected a few people to think there is nothing left to learn.

Eric said that...I didn't. I'm still on the learning curve. Albeit, going down the other side. But still learning none the less.

Bukmastr...Welcome to this fine site...I see you have already pulled up a stump. You did grab a beer didn't you?

Well, I have to go 100 percent with Bushy, never stop learning. On the other hand, I was pretty deprived as a youngster, didn't have tv or dvd's to learn to hunt from, I had to go out in the bush with my big brother and/or this old Indian guy and pay attention to every f***ing word they said and do exactly what they ********told me to! Damn. Oh well, I survived.

One other comment....I wouldn't be the least surprised by how much advertisers control the programming. Any "outdoors" show I've seen basically the host of the show is using the products of the main sponsors. It's kind of like you'll never catch fish without such and such a boat or this guy's rod and tackle, or you'll never drop a moose without this company's rifle and be wearing these guys camo undies...Yawn.
