Liljohn,
You started with a carbine and now are thinking about a Martini Cadet or NEF Handy Rifle. The single shots are entirely different critters and take a different loading aproach. The reason is that the single shot capability has no relation to a handgun or lever gun at all.

The NEF Handy action should be about 65k. The Cadet has a 60k action. Jacketed pistol bullets are designed to expand at pistol velocities, around 12-1400 fps. The jacketed 357 pistol bullets in the Cadet or NEF, when loaded to peak performance (well over 2000 fps) will certinly be explosive.

Yes I am looking for rifle loads, and specificly MOLDS for a future .357 mag/max setup.

I am now using a borrowed contender carbine, (from a friend that bought it from me years ago when I sold everything because of a divorce.) in .357mag with a 200gr. flat head...over 6gr. unique load of HIS, and some factory 158gr. JHPs.

I am a single shooter...don't like levers/bolts/or autos.

I used to shoot freehand pistol, and cast my own .38/.357 about 25 years ago....and was trying to find out if there was any new state-o'-the-art yote/deer knock down molds out there....for RIFLE.

I will build/ buy a rifle for deer...and want to do off season yote killing to stay sharp...along with targets.

Once I get started, I will be reloading with all the recent manuals, and all new supplies/loader.

I know my limitations while shooting/hunting, and keep to this for every firearm/cartridge that I use.

My dad was a drill instructor in the marines and I was raised nursing a Colt "Gold Cup" .45ACP, and the M1 Garand so know all about safety in reloading, handeling, and firing.

I even was spotter at some Camp Perry shoots with dad....(yup I'm a "Geezer"....) anybody remembering what "Maggie's Drawers" are will know what I'm talking about.

Thanks for all the info!

I do wish I had understood you were working with a TC to start with. I thought you were talking about a 94 carbine in a Marlin. That is what you get for carrying on two discussions at one time about the 357 rifle.

The load for a 357 single shot with a 357mag is the 200 Remington RN and 18gr of 296 with the bullet crimmped at the cannalure. You can also use the 180 Hornady SP rifle bullet and 19gr of 296. These are loads developed by Jim Rock for use in the XL or Merrill. Jim is the owner of Rock Pistol Mfg. The loads work fine in a TC as well. I have used the loads for about 20 years. The 200 will drop a deer or 300lb boar in his tracks.
