Actually if you look close you can see the small "puffs" of smoke inbetween the big guns from the rest of the side guns... for a total of 15 guns going off at once.

OUTSTANDING...I don't believe we will ever see the likes of the mighty Battleship again. Smaller ships today carry significantly more firepower in the form of missiles etc, meaning there is now no call for the massive battle wagons. It's a shame because they were impressive in their size, appearance and intimidation factor.

Yeah an Arelieh Burke destroyer doesnt have the same impression, unless its with a carrier battle group.

Were there any U.S battleship to Japanese battleship slug outs during WW2?
Or did the carriers and subs clean them all up?

dhc, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...uadalcanal

I remember during the first Gulf War when a reporter asked a US Navy officer what would happen if a modern missile hit "that old WW2 ship" USS New Jersey. The officer said "I suspect it would scorch the paint."

AN OLDIE, BUT A BEAUTY....The Battleship TEXAS is the last dreadnought in existence in the world, a veteran of Vera Cruz (1914) and both World Wars, and is credited with the introduction and innovation of advances in gunnery, aviation and radar. Having been designed in the first decade of the 20th century, (keel laid in 1911 and completed in 1914), and having seen action in some of the most intense and critical campaigns of WWII, she is an important piece of our naval and maritime history.
