In the accurate number one book, it shows that you can use 1680, or 2015br for loading 22 hornet. But I notice in the newest Accurate load data that is available for downloading free from Accurate, they dont even mention 2015BR for the hornet at all.
Anyone know what the reason for the removal of 2015BR for the hornet is?

Also, what is the difference between powder and Bench Rest powder? I use Br for hunting and target bench rest shooting just fine. Why the distinction ?

Bench rest powder is held to tighter tolerances , size, shape, weight and is suppose to be more consistent than normal regular powder thus giving the bench rest shooters tighter groups.

As far as the Accurate data, I don't use that powder and I'm sure someone will be along shortly to help you out.

BTW, welcome to Hunting Nut.

no help yet. Im going to assume the 1994 2015br is the same as todays 2015br and just go with it. But Im also going to try use some 1680 and try the Nitro 100 they recomend in the newest accurate loading data for the hornet. see which works best for me

I just downloaded the latest accurate 3.5 pdf load data and your right its not listed, so I called up a buddy of mine who uses accurate powder and also has a 22 hornet and it shows in his #2 book a starting load of 11.3grs behind a 40gr sierra bullet. Max according to the #2 book was 12.5grs. Whats odd about the 2015br powder is that it had modest velocity and almost 1/3 the pressure of any other powders listed in cups.

yeah, I have a #1 accurate book, and its listed in it. I decided to give it [2015] a try for some paper punching target loads. I was using 1680 and also the old standby , 2400.

I think I shall call Accurate and find out just why they dont suggest it anymore.

I was told yesterday that Lil' Gun is another marketing line by Hodgdon. The sales guys at the reload shop I go to said its just repacked, renamed , and remarketed Hodgdon powders. A trick the Pharmaceutical companies have used for decades with medicines. New, improved, same old stuff.

Is there any truth to this? Does anyone know For Sure if its not true?

Hogdon market a number of powders manufactured by Thales in an Australia (a Defence Industries Company). For instance, Varget - sold by Hogdon- is an Aussie powder manufactured and sold in Australia by Thales as AR2208.

Following is a list I received from the manufacturer of Thales / ADI powders marketed in the US by Hogdon / IMR. Note that Lil' Gun is not one of them.

ADI / Hodgdon Propellants

ADI Powder.........................Hodgdon / IMR naming

Trail Boss............................Trail Boss
AS30N................................Clays
AS50N................................International
AP70N................................Universal
AR2205..............................H4227
AR2207..............................H4198
AR2219..............................H322
BM2...................................Benchmark
Not available in Australia......8208 XBR
AR2206H............................H4895
AR2208..............................Varget
AR2209..............................H4350
AR2213H / AR2213SC..........H4831 / H4831SC
AR2217..............................H1000
AR2225..............................Retumbo
AR2218..............................H50BMG

Cheers, Vince

According to the msds sheets provided by hodgdon, Lil gun is made by the St Marks Powder Co. Along with many other powders listed like H110, superperformance, etc.

Click HERE and than click on spherical powders to open up the pdf and it will show you who makes the powder for hodgdon.

guess my point , and the point of the reload store guy , is that lil gun, is owned and or sold, and or marketed , by hodgdon. its not its own brand. So to speak. Now is it just another one of the powders hodgdon markets , renamed and repackaged, ???? dont know. but in this world of rebranding, its very possible ... I think

Got an answer from Accurate.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Daniel,

A-2015® is actually way too slow burning for the .22Hornet.

Although the previous owner/company did publish data for it, the velocities were mediocre and much lower than standard.

A-1680® is about the “ideal” powder for the 22Hornet.
